Trump weighs in on VP debate with fracking fact-check

President Trump weighed in on Wednesday night’s VP debate by fact-checking Sen. Kamala Harris’ position on fracking.

The president posted a clip from what appeared to be a town hall event in which the California lawmaker said that there was “no question” she was in favor of banning fracking.

“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris BOTH want to BAN FRACKING,” Trump wrote.

The president’s fact-check comment came during the debate’s segment on climate change.

Despite having publicly supported fracking in the past, Harris said that her running mate Joe Biden would not outlaw the practice.

“I will repeat, and the American people will know, Joe Biden will not ban fracking. That is a fact. That is a fact,” she said.

Fracking is a process by which water, sand and chemicals are pumped into the ground at very high pressures to crack layers of rock and release oil or gas trapped inside.

Opponents argue that it has led to increased air and water pollution around the country.
