Surveillance video shows a pick-up truck hurtling into a seating area outside a Brooklyn restaurant, injuring three people.
At least one diner, as well as a couple of tables and chairs, were thrown to the ground when the vehicle slammed into a barrier outside the L’Wren bar in Sunset Park Tuesday evening, according to the shocking footage obtained by WABC.
Three people were hurt, but their injuries were not deemed to be serious.
Police said the 22-year-old driver had been operating the vehicle without a license. He was given a summons.
The eatery’s owner told the outlet that the driver tried to pull away after the crash, but was flagged down.
“I honestly never thought any of this stuff would happen,” said Travis Klas. “You know we built the barrier pretty tough to where if it does happen they would be protected.”
Restaurants with outdoor seating are required to place barricades or 6-inch planters between diners and traffic.
Klas said it was “extremely fortunate for everybody” that no one had been seriously injured in the incident.
“The guy driving, that would have been terrible for him to seriously hurt someone, it would have been terrible for everyone.”
