Royals admit they had ‘lengthy chat’ with Prince Harry after Philip’s funeral

The Earl and Countess of Wessex say they had a "lengthy chat" with Prince Harry following the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral.

The Duke of Sussex returned to the UK in order to attend his grandfather Prince Philip's funeral, meaning he was rather awkwardly reunited with his family just weeks after making a series of rather controversial claims.

During their chat with US TV legend Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle made a series of bombshell claims including allegations that Kate Middleton made her new sister-in-law Meghan cry, as well as revelations that the Duchess of Sussex had suicidal thoughts and that there were concerns within the Palace about "how dark" their baby would be.

But despite the revelations, Harry's family members say they still spoke to Harry as they are "still a family no matter what happens".

Speaking to The Telegraph Magazine, Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex said "things have changed a bit" since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their royal duties, but said they will "always be family".

And The Countess says she had a "lengthy chat" with Prince Harry after his grandfather's funeral.

She said: "We are still a family no matter what happens, we always will be."

Meghan, who is heavily pregnant with the Sussexes second child, wasn't able to attend the funeral on medical advice.

Kate Middleton was the first member of the family to be seen chatting to Harry at the service, who then ended up walking away from St George's Chapel with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The Duchess of Cambridge's move even led to royal expert saying her actions had shown Kate had "set aside any personal resentment" and "rose decidedly above it all" following the bombshell Oprah interview.

Harry and his wife Meghan Markle announced on January 8 last year that they would step back from senior positions within the Firm following talks at Sandringham with Prince Charles, Prince William and the Queen.

Meghan and Harry have since relocated with their son Archie Harrison to California, having spent the intervening period living in Canada, in hopes of a more private lifestyle.
