Gamers desperate to bag themselves a PS5 caused the websites of John Lewis, GAME and Tesco to all crash on Thursday morning.

The new console went on sale in the UK on Thursday, November 19, and gamers have been keen to get their hands on one.

John Lewis, GAME and Tesco websites all went down on Thursday morning as Currys PC World implemented a virtual queueing system to restrict traffic amid the huge rush to get hold of the new console.

More than 120,000 people are said to be in the queue.

It comes as the boss of Playstation has defended the £70 price tag for PS5 games, saying it’s a "fair" sum.
