A man and his three-year-old son were beaten to death by their own family members during an exorcism, it has been reported.
The shocking incident happened on Saturday, February 20, in Thikriya, in India's Andhra Pradesh region.
Police arrived on the scene and had to break into the property, where they are said to have found a 19-year-old girl sitting on top of the child and beating him with utensils "in a frenzy", Times of India reports.
The teenager, identified as Mamta, and her mum, named locally as Anita and who is said to have been the sister of the man who was attacked, have since been arrested.
The deceased man has been named as 26-year-old Rajatam Karadi and his young son identified as Adarsh.
It is claimed that the attack started because the mum and daughter, who reportedly thought they were possessed by good spirits, believed the dad and son were possessed by evil spirits.
Around 50 other relatives were said to be at the property at the time of the attacks to celebrate two weddings.

According to Ratlam superintendent of police Guarav Tiwari, police were called at around 10am after family members rushed the dad to the hospital, where he later tragically passed away.
Mr Tiwari told local media: "A team from Shivgarh police station was sent to his house.
"They tried to get the door open for over half an hour but in vain.
"They broke it down with the help of villagers and neighbours."
Police say they found burnt incense sticks and flowers in large quantities at the property.
Upon entering the house they saw the daughter attacking the young child, who was sadly then pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr Tiwari added: "Anita and her daughter Mamta believed they were possesed by good spirits and that Rajaram and his son, Adarsh, were possessed by evil spirits.
"They tried to ward them off."
