Doctors believed Lina Medina was suffering from a large tumour when her stomach began to grow at five years old.
They were shocked to discover that the Peruvian girl was seven months pregnant — and just weeks later they delivered her perfectly healthy baby son.
It has been 80 years since that shocking day, and Lina is still the youngest person to have ever given birth.
The healthy 6lb baby was born via caesarean as the girl's young pelvis was deemed too small for a natural labour.
The infant was named Gerado, named after the doctor who delivered him.
Dr Gerado discovered during the birth that Lina had fully developed adult sexual organs, despite only being five years old.
The young girl suffered from an extremely rare condition named precocious puberty.
After the birth, Lina's father Tilburelo was arrested on suspicion of incest. However he was later released as a lack of evidence could not link him to such crimes.
To this day the true identity of the father is unknown.
Baby Gerado was born on May 14, 1939, living a healthy life for 40 years until 1979, when he sadly died from a bone disease.

Lina Medina, born into a poor family in Peru in 1933, is now 85 years old and has been able to live a normal life since her alarmingly early experience of childbirth.
She has never sold her story to the press and maintains her privacy out of the spotlight.
Lina gave birth to her second son at the age of 39 with her husband Raul, who she married in the 1970s.
Many sceptics have claimed that the case of Lina is a hoax or conspiracy but doctors claim they have x-rays to prove the rare birth really did happen.

Recent reports have revealed that an 11-year-old girl in Britain has given birth, which is suspected to make her the youngest UK mum, replacing 12-year-old Tressa who has held the title since 2006.
Tressa Middleton, from West Lothian, Scotland, was horrifically raped by her brother when she was just 11 years old.
Tressa, who was in and out of care due to her mum's alcohol and drug addiction, did not tell her family that her brother Jason was the father of her unborn child.

After giving birth to the baby, she claimed that the father was a drunken teenager she had met, and raised her son hiding the dark secret for two years.
When she turned 14, the young mum finally revealed the tragic truth to a friend and Jason was arrested. Her child was taken away from her and put into care.
Jason was jailed for four years in 2009 after DNA tests proved he was the baby's father.
In 2009, 15-year-old Chantelle Stedman gave birth and a 13-year-old boy made headlines claiming to be the UK's youngest father.
The four-foot tall Alfie Pattern was doubted by sceptics who didn't believe the "baby-faced" pre-teen had conceived the child.
Following a number of claims from other teenagers who said they could also be the father, a DNA test revealed that Alfie, who would have been 12 at the time of conceiving the child, was in fact the father.
Alfie's story caused a crazy media circus and his mother, Nicola, claims they were treated "like something off the TV show Shameless".
Speaking to The Mirror, she said: "Suddenly Alfie’s name was being thrown about in Parliament and on the 10 o’clock news. We were portrayed as a bad family from the wrong side of town."
