An angry mum is locked in a dispute with a retail chain after demanding a refund on a pair of children’s Kickers, because, she says, they became tattered and worn within days of her son returning to school.
Dominique Scully, 32, originally from Derbyshire, bought two pairs of the shoes for £74 from Wynsors World of Shoes, in Hanley, Staffordshire, after seeing them in an advert.
But she told Staffordshire Live that five-year-old Adam's shoes started to wear out within days of him returning to school in September, having been purchased just before the start of the 2021/22 academic year.
The mum-of-two, from Bradwell, said: “Adam came out of school with two holes in his shoes. All the stitching had come out of both the front of the shoes. I'd just chucked his pair from Clarks away a week before he started school – and they had lasted him all year.
“I was really mad. I’ve been able to buy him another pair of shoes but what about the other people who haven’t got the money to go out and pay for another pair of shoes.
“I’ve bought stuff from there before and it’s been fine. I couldn't believe it."

Dominique says the shop has sent the shoes to its quality control team. But the complaint remains unresolved and the shoes are still in the shop.
Dominique says Kickers has told her that the dispute is between her and the store.
She added: “The shoes have the red and green tags at the back – and even one of those had come out as well. They were really worn down. I am shocked and for them to tell me they are not going to give me a replacement or refund is disgusting. It’s not right. I want a refund. I’ve had nothing.”
Wnysors World of Shoes has been approached for a statement regarding the issue.
