Donald Trump support dives to all time low after Capitol Hill riot – SHAMEFUL poll results

Donald Trump 'must be removed from office' says Scaramucci

The US President has seen his support decrease to 33 percent, the lowest in his presidency after MAGA supporters stormed Congress as lawmakers were in the process of certifying Joe Biden as President. In a survey conducted by Quinnipiac University, 53 percent of those polled believed Mr Trump should step down over allegations he incited last Wednesday’s violence.

Of those surveyed, 52 percent believed he should be removed from office despite only having nine days left in the White House.

Most voters (56 percent) said the Republican president was responsible for the assault to the Capitol building.

Only a 42 percent of survey respondents believed Mr Trump was not to blame for the violence.

A majority of voters (47 percent) claimed that the incident was an attempted coup, 43 percent of respondents said it was not.

Only 10 percent of those polled said they were not sure there was a coup attempt.

Most respondents (91 percent) believed rioters should be held accountable for the crimes committed and only 6 percent of voters differed.

Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy backed the majority who believe rioters should be brought to justice.

Speaking of those who assaulted the Washington DC building, he said: “Pick them up and lock them up.

“There’s no ambivalence on how to treat the mobs that breached the Capitol, and there is nearly the same level of alarm from Republicans and Democrats over extremism establishing a troubling foothold.”

An alarming 81 percent of voters said extremism was a big issue in the US, while twelve percent of respondents believed extremism is not a problem in the country.

Meanwhile, the US department of state has cast doubt over Mr Trump’s presidency as its website states that his term as president has ended on Monday.

The official US website states: “Donald J. Trump’s term ended on 2021-01-11 19:38:51.”

Buzzfeed correspondent Christopher Miller reported that a State Department employee was responsible for the statement.

He tweeted: “Sources tell Buzzfeed ‘disgruntled staffer’ is behind the State Department site’s change of Trump and Pence’s biographies.”

US secretary of state Mike Pompeo has launched an inquiry into how the biographical sections for Mr Trump and Vice President Pence were changed on Monday.

Two Washington-based diplomats spoke to Buzzfeed News about the issue.

However, investigating the changes could be a challenge, the diplomats admitted, as multiple employees have access to the content management system to change the information displayed on the website.

One of the diplomats told BuzzFeed News that it is a “closed system” that is “nearly impossible to hack”.

Twitter users are now suggesting the edited website has been hacked and an autonomous code is changing the statements.

One Twitter user, referring to the changing timestamp beside the edited statements, said: “It’s likely a timestamp that is auto-generated each time the page is cached. And the page may have its cache timeout every five minutes or so.”
