Denver weather: Rain likely Thursday with possible snow at night

While Thursday’s weather will start out with mostly sunny skies, you should have an umbrella ready for later this afternoon.

There’s a slight chance of rain for the Denver area after 4 p.m. as increased cloud cover sweeps over the mountains and into the plains, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Expect a high of 52 degrees with light winds.

By Thursday night, skies will remain cloudy, and a rain/snow mix is likely. Parts of the northern Front Range mountains may see between 3 to 5 inches of snow, but the metro area and the plains may get less than an inch. The low will drop to 31 degrees.

The chance for another rain/snow mix will increase Friday with rain showers starting in the early afternoon. The high will be 48 degrees, and wind gusts may reach up to 21 mph. Snow will likely hit Friday night with a low of 29 degrees.

Skies should clear up this weekend with sunny skies forecasted for Saturday and Sunday with highs climbing into the mid-50s and lower 60s.
