Cyclist, driver die after separate Melbourne collisions

Two people, including a cyclist, have died in separate collisions on Thursday, which police are now investigating.

A cyclist died at the scene after being hit by a truck at around 12.30pm while riding on Footscray Road in West Melbourne.

The driver of the truck stopped at the scene, and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Police are also investigating a fatal collision at Pascoe Vale this morning after two cars crashed at the intersection of Prices Terrace and Reynolds Parade about 9.10am.

One of the drivers, a 78-year-old Pascoe Vale man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and later died.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 40-year-old Strathmore woman, sustained minor injuries, and did not require emergency treatment.

Another person was assessed by emergency services but did not require further treatment.
