A distraught couple is suing an IVF clinic after taking a DNA test as a joke and finding out one of their sons has a different biological dad.
Donna and Vanner Johnson, from Utah, US, thought their two sons were both biologically theirs.
They used an IVF clinic to help with conception for their second child, who is now 12 and were delighted to welcome him into the world.
But the couple were left heartbroken and confused when the home DNA testing kit came back with "father unknown" – shattering what they believed about their family.
It transpired there had been a mix-up with sperm at the fertility clinic.
Speaking to ABC4.com, Vanner says: "When I looked on that page and saw mum for him and father unknown, I thought 'what do you mean father unknown? I am his father'."
He adds: "There were a lot of emotions we had to work through including separating the love of our son which has not changed.
"This mistake that happened, how could it happen, why did it happen and what do we do now?"

After some painful conversations together, they tracked down their son's biological father who had attended the clinic on the same day.
They have now met up with the man and his partner in person and both couples are taking legal action against the clinic after it confirmed the mistake.
While their younger son was conceived with Donna's egg, the other man's sperm fertilised it.
Vanner says: "It’s grossly inadequate what we are dealing with.
"And as we got going through that process…
"I thought because of what we are dealing with, it would be treated differently or more gingerly and it’s not at all."
This comes after a woman claimed she took a DNA test to learn more about her ancestors, only to discover her father wasn't her biological dad.
