Blokes turning their back on boozy stag dos and visits to strip clubs

Half of blokes say stag dos should be less focused on booze, strip clubs and debauchery and more on "memorable experiences”.

Nearly 70% would choose a new activity instead of going drinking, the research by a StagWeb study found.

And visits to strip clubs fell by 40% last year from 2018.

But hen dos have gone the opposite way, with a 40% rise in groups of women heading to male strip shows for a pre-wedding party.

The number of groups booking naked butlers in the buff has also increased by 60%.

Industry figures say there’s been a shift in stag choices as guests look for weekends they’ll “remember forever” instead of blacking out from heavy sessions.

Instead there has been a rise in groups looking for wholesome activities like paintball and bubble football.

Steve Roddy, managing director of stag do organisers StagWeb, said: “Though many people pigeonhole stag weekends as debauched booze ups.

The stats actually show people are moving away from the strip clubs and the beer-based trips and focusing more on new activities and memorable experiences.

“Whilst alcohol and gentlemen’s clubs will always have a place on stag weekends for some, we’re definitely witnessing a societal shift in stag preferences.”

He added: “Last year, for example, we saw a big reduction in beer-related activities and an increase in the popularity of events like bubble football, paintball, Clay Shooting and Quad Biking.

“People are now looking for a weekend they’ll remember forever, rather than one they will hardly remember.”
