The Chase's Darragh Ennis leaves Bradley Walsh speechless with savage dig about his age

THE Chase's Darragh Ennis left Bradley Walsh speechless with a savage dig about his age.

Monday's edition of the ITV quiz show saw Darragh 'The Menace' Ennis take on four new contestants.

One of them, Ria, faced a question about classic musical Grease, which read: "Barry Norman said what film was set in 'an American High School populated by the oldest bunch of teenagers in the world?"

Ria correctly answered that it was the Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta hit, and joked the cast were "all in their 40s" when they made it.

Bradley, 61, then agreed that the film's casting was "ludicrous" and joked: “I could have got in it! Just ridiculous.”

Darragh then cheekily chipped in: "If you were in it the make-up department would have been earning their money, Brad.”

Bradley laughed and said "thanks" but had to take a minute to process the dig before moving on to the part of the show.

He said: "I don’t know what that means!”

Ria managed to make it back to her seat with her pot of money, but Darragh was too strong for the team in the Final Chase.

The team scored a decent 16 in their round, but they were no match for Darragh, a former contestant, who managed to catch them with 30 seconds left on the clock.

Darragh's success on the show comes after he recently revealed he still has a full time job as a postdoctoral researcher at Oxford University.

He was overheard saying at the National Television Awards last month: "My actual job is a scientist, I work Monday to Friday, 9-5. I was in the lab yesterday."

But Darragh clearly loves what he does and said of The Chase: "It's brilliant."

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
