Strictly Come Dancing fans have branded the BBC show a "fix" after Dan Walker received a score of 31, including a nine from guest judge Cynthia Erivo.

The BBC Breakfast star danced a Rumba with his pro partner Nadiya Bychkova to Eagles song Desperado but failed to impress viewers.

He scored a six from Craig Revel Horwood, two eights from Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke and a nine from Cynthia.

Fans rushed to Twitter to call out the scoring, with many disagreeing about whether he deserved the generous numbers.

"This has to be a fix. A 9! A 9! Mad," one disgruntled viewer wrote.

Another said: "6, it didn't even f***ing deserve that… a 9, WTF is she on, and 2 8s, f*** right off."

A third wrote: "Is Dan Walker the biggest ever fix on Strictly? He should not be there anymore."

Someone else said: "Not a chance Dan's awful dance was better than Rose's. This really doesn't help with the rumours the show is a fix!"

While another added: "Rose gets all 8s but Dan gets 9s for his wooden dance? We need more honest judges like Craig. BBC fixed scoring!"

Rose Ayling-Ellis had danced first and was given a score of 33 for her Paso Doble to Sia's California Dreamin' – just two points more than Dan.

However judge Anton recently slammed the fix claims, labelling them "pointless".

He told "At the end of the day, the audience have the decision of who wins anyway, so the BBC and the judges have no say in that, the audience do.

“In regards to everything else, the BBC don’t care about who wins or who doesn’t win because they're interested in making a great television show.

“The judges don't mind who wins and who doesn’t, because I can't say to you, ‘my favourite was Dan Walker,’ because you’ll say to me, ‘you don’t know what you’re talking about, he’s obviously not danced better than AJ [Odudu] last weekend, let’s say.

"So all I do is I lose my own credibility, so I have to mark what I see, and based on that, you get this element of, it is what it is."
