As he appeared on the show to make his introduction, Russell revealed: “You’re going to see a different side to Russell Watson!”

He added: “The stage is my life, it means everything.”

Speaking about his upcoming camp experience Russell admitted: “I don’t think it’s going to be fun at all. I don’t really want to think about the bugs at the moment.”

Meanwhile, Ruthie said: “There’s a big difference in the known and the unknown and we’re in the unknown and it’s really a bit scary!”

She also shared her nerves over entering the castle after the original camp mates have had some time to bond.

Ruth said: “Going in late, you’re suddenly feeling much more on show. You’ve got to bring something to the table.”

And the pair were certainly do that as they will take part in the next trial, which is called Stage Fright, before they meet their campmates.

Russell has also revealed he has been approached by I’m A Celeb bosses six times before agreeing to sign up to the show.

He said: “I've been asked six times and was asked at the beginning of this year.

“I fancied doing something different. I don't think anyone has got to know my personality very well and I think it will be good to test my metal against the challenges.

“Especially as I have spent most of the year not doing what I normally would do!”

However, Russell does have some reservations about heading into the castle.

He confessed: “I'm not a fan of ghosts or the dark. Maybe it's a control thing, because I don't know what's there and I can't control it.

Russell is married to Louise Harris and has two daughters from his previous marriage to Helen Watson.

He revealed he struggled to keep the show a secret from his kids as he said: “It has been hard keeping it a secret from my kids. What will they say when they find out? ‘You b***ard! Why didn’t you tell us!’

“My wife was very sceptical at first and I think she is still a little bit nervous. I will miss them lots.”
