Pirates of the Caribbean: Johnny Depp could ABANDON franchise after ‘film offer’

Disney franchise Pirates of the Caribbean made Johnny Depp an even bigger star than he already was. While Depp was already a household name after his hard work with Tim Burton in his various films. On top of that, how could anyone forget his performance in Chocolat as the heartthrob Roux.

However the stratospheric fame found during Pirates of the Caribbean left Depp perhaps one of the best-known actors in the industry.

Unfortunately, because of trial details pertaining to his personal life, Depp was recently dropped by Disney.

This means, going forward, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise will no longer have its iconic Captain Jack Sparrow at the helm.

While Depp was forced to walk the plank, his luck may not be up just yet.

According to a source, Depp is supposedly being looked at to join the Sherlock Holmes franchise.

That isn’t the same franchise recently advertised starring Henry Cavill as the eponymous detective, but rather the franchise headed up by Avengers Endgame star Robert Downey Jr.

As per WeGotThisCovered, RDJ is reportedly looking to take Depp under his wing, and bring him on board for Sherlock Holmes 3.

Depp has supposedly found it a little difficult to find work since he became embroiled in his ongoing trial.

Meanwhile the Tony Stark actor is very involved in the upcoming Sherlock Holmes 3 production alongside his wife, Susan Downey, giving them some clout in how the film turns out.

With this in mind, he is supposedly looking to extend some sort of offering to Depp going forward.

According to the website: “A senior source at Warner Bros. [says] Bob wants Johnny on board, come hell or high water.”

Depp would probably not take on a huge franchise such as this without ensuring it was a big role.

So, while he has not officially taken on anything just yet, he will surely become a massive part of the upcoming film.

In the meantime, fans have been fancasting Depp in a number of roles.

The latest dream role came from famed graphic designer BossLogic, who placed Depp in the role of a familiar character.

In BossLogic’s latest art piece, Depp was put in the shoes of the Joker – yes, Batman’s nemesis.

The artist posted an image of Depp with facial scars like the villain, as well as the accompanying make up, and a devilish trilby hat.

Fans were instantly elated by the mock-up, with one writing: “I have no dog in this race as they are all worthy but my heart wants #JohnnyDepp to be Joker.”

They went on to add: “I think it a role made for him just like all the ones before.”

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is available to watch on Disney Plus.
