Sam Heughan has admitted it’s going to be tough to film Outlander’s steamy love scenes while adherring to the coronavirus safety protocols on set.
The actor and his co-star Caitriona Balfe are returning to set to film season six of the hit drama series and things are certainly going to be different.
Opening up about what it will be like to film amid the coronavirus pandemic, Sam explained on Live With Kelly and Ryan: ‘Obviously with COVID, things have been delayed but we are definitely, definitely gearing up.
‘I’ve been in a few times for costume fittings. We’re gonna have to adapt. We’re gonna have to look at a new way of working around it, but we’re getting there. I’m excited to go back to work.’
As for how the safety protocols will work for the love scenes, he added: ‘I guess I’ve got to stay two metres apart from my co-stars, so that could provide some really interesting love scenes. We’ll see!’
When Ryan Seacrest stated that Sam’s answer indicated that there would still be love scenes, the actor explained: ‘As far as I know, I hope so. It is an integral part of it.
The actor also spoke about his upcoming travel show, Men In Kilts, which he filmed with co-star Graham McTavish.
Outlander, which sees Claire Randall (Balfe), a nurse from 1946, transported back to 1743 Scotland, has been an instant cult hit with viewers.
There she meets and falls in love with Jamie (Heughan), and together the pair explore the world together (while coming across numerous issues along the way).
Outlander airs on Starz in the US and is available to stream on Amazon Prime in the UK.
