The binge-worthy series, which sees singletons meet each other for the first time to tie the knot is currently airing in the UK on E4 and has left viewers with a lot of unanswered questions.

The dating show is based on the UK version, but MAFS stars Cam and Jules, who recently introduced baby Oliver to OK! readers, sat down with New Magazine to explain the shocking differences between their series which was filmed down under in 2018.

The outrageous premise of the show has gets fans hooked from the first episode, but the reality star pair informed us that the marriages aren’t actually legit. In comparison, they are actually legally binding in the UK.

It’s clear that the Aussie series is keen to encourage cast members to treat the ceremony as if it was the real deal though. Jules explained, “It’s completely like a wedding, even your celebrant is an actual celebrant, but you just don’t sign a piece of paper, so I think it is about treating the experiment like it really is a real wedding.”

The reason for this is because the Australian Marriage Act requires a couple to notify the court one month and one day ahead of saying “I do.”

Another question on everyone’s lips is whether contestants get paid for appearing on the popular reality TV show. Cam and Jules revealed exclusively to VIP Members that they did indeed get paid for their time on the series.

The loved-up duo first joked that they got paid “millions” for their MAFS stint but then Jules admitted: “You get paid a minimum fee every single day that you’re on it and obviously all your expenses are paid.”

Confessing that she had got a good deal, the stunning redhead said, “the minimum pay for the chance to find love.”

Another shocking secret fans will be gutted to hear is that – spoiler alert – Cam and Jules were actually told by producers to go plant shopping…

Speaking on how involved the producers are, Cam revealed: “They are always there because they are with sound and visual and things like that.”

Jules added: “Like when they want you to go plant shopping and make you like the boring couple, so we were like “ok lets make it fun.”

Here, the couple talk about their happy marriage after marrying for a second time in a legal ceremony and how they have taken to parenthood…

You were very open on the show about wanting children. Do you feel your dreams have come true?

Jules: Absolutely!

Cam: Sometimes you wonder if it will ever happen for you. Getting married twice was special,
but having a little one made me so proud. Everyone thinks everything is rosy, but we’ve had bumps in the road. We’ve both been at rock bottom. We did
all the hard graft to be ready.

Did you have a smooth pregnancy, Jules?

Jules: No, there were a few scars, including a haemorrhage. But the baby was fine and I loved being pregnant. I did my sexiest photoshoot when I was [pregnant]. I felt so strong! You’re literally a superwoman.

Cam: She was such a trouper.

Jules: The first night we brought Oliver home was the first night in our new house. We were on a mattress on the floor!

The name Oliver Chase is adorable – how did you decide on it?

Jules: We had this app called Kinder where you swipe for baby names. We had our daughter’s name decided but we couldn’t find a boy’s name. Then I saw that the name Oliver was about an olive branch and forgiveness, and I loved it. Which is why we planted my placenta with an olive tree over the top. It’s all about grounding him to the earth and watching him grow. His middle name is Chase which means a hunter. I felt with that name he’d be a little go-getter, a beautiful soul that forgives and is nurturing.

Aw! Are you planning to have more children?

Jules: Yeah, we will probably try in a year’s time. I’d love to have three. [To Cam] You’d like three as well, wouldn’t you?!

Cam: Yeah, no problem! [Laughs]

Jules: We’d like a little army of them, but it is so hard.

Cam, what’s it been like watching Jules become a mother?

Cam: It’s been fantastic. She told me it would be the best role she’d ever do and she’s not wrong. I’ve watched her grow and adapt. She’s the most loving and wonderful mother. Oliver is very fortunate. I sometimes look in her back to see if she’s battery operated [laughs]. But she’s not!

Did you ever expect this outcome from going on MAFS?

Jules: No! Neither of us saw past our wedding date. All we both thought about was who we were, what we could offer and what we wanted from the experience. Anything that’s come on an outside level, like having a child, going from strength to strength and buying our own home, has been a bonus. We’re so grateful.

Cam: All those things have always been a dream. We took the leap of faith to go into this, thinking, “Why not?” For both of us, the dating world had been so difficult. We’re very lucky. We found our one and that led to where we are today.

Tell us about when you were offered a place on the show…

Jules: I lived in south London for 14 years and had only come back to Australia the year before the show. England was my home.
I had it all planned that if MAFS didn’t work, I’d move back to London. But here I am now, married twice with a baby!

Cam: I was actually in London when I got the call to say, “Would you like to get married?” I was at Heathrow and flew back to meet this one [smiles at Jules].

It seems like it was all meant to be! Has it made you both believe in fate?

Jules: Yeah, I honestly believe the stars aligned the day we met. You don’t see the full vows on
the show, but they mirrored each other. We weren’t what we ordered, you know? He wasn’t what I ordered and I wasn’t what he ordered. But when he spoke, I knew that we had the same values. That, for me, is where I’d gone so wrong before in dating. I was picking men who didn’t want the same things as me – where it was more about attraction – and it didn’t work out. It was just a very extreme Bumble date really [laughs].

Cam: Yeah! The more that we spoke, we realised we’d both had very similar paths, we’d just never met. Then we finally aligned. It was fate but we also did a lot of work to get to know each other.

It paid off…

Jules: Also, we were open to each other. We were prepared that we were there for an experiment and we had to be open. We couldn’t say, “I don’t like the way you look.” We spent three months together 24/7. That’s literally like a year of dating someone! Normally you just date and see each other every couple of weeks, but we were inseparable. You’re forced to be in that situation. It’s a great test to get to know someone.

Tell us about the moment that Cam proposed on the finale of the show…

Cam: It was a special moment. I didn’t plan it at all.

Jules: [To Cam] You only had a ring in your back pocket!

Cam: I did! But it wasn’t going to come out, until the moment that I saw Jules.

Jules: As crazy as it sounds, you don’t notice anyone else around. It was just him and me at that moment. I didn’t know if he was just giving me the moment that I never got. I was like, “Are you actually asking me to marry you?!” In the show, nothing is rehearsed. When you get married on the show you only do it once. People think it’s staged. You do walk down the aisle a few times after to get some different angles, but everything emotional is done the first time. That moment Cam proposed was beautiful.

What was your second wedding ceremony like?

Jules: It was just beautiful. We were able to have many more of our friends and family there. We love dancing, so we did our first dance to Love At First Sight by Kylie Minogue.

Cam: It was amazing.

Did any of your other MAFS co-stars come?

Jules: Heidi Latcham from the show was one of my bridesmaids, which was lovely. And Nic Jovanovic and Cyrell Paule were there too.
