Britain’s Got Talent magician X, real name Marc Spelmann, managed to keep his identity hidden right up until the live final on Sunday.
He left the judges, hosts Ant and Dec and even BGT viewers absolutely gobsmacked when he finally unveiled who he was live on the show, marking his big comeback.
Throughout the series, Marc has remained masked during both his audition and semi-final performance, using his live act during the finale to finally reveal all.
Everyone was stunned, with Marc going on to reveal he didn’t even tell most of his family that he was back on BGT, a year on from his incredible first stint on the ITV series, with him being Ant and Dec's Golden Buzzer in 2018.
Speaking for the first time since coming second place to Colin Thackery on the 2019 series on Sunday night, Marc has now confirmed who really knew the truth all along.
Amid speculation from fans that the judges might have known, the mastermind revealed all to Lorraine Kelly on her morning show on Monday.
He explained: “I had a good friend of mine following me around everywhere talking to everyone for me, it was very la-di-dah.
“My wife obviously knew and Isabella knew because I'd been rehearsing. She was quite used to me being in a mask. She thinks everyone in a white mask is her dad.”
On why he kept his act anonymous, he said: “It was difficult but at the same time so much fun. We all want to be superheroes, X was a superhero to me.
He added: “X is a concept, I've always loved the notion of an anonymous character that evokes magic from people.
“The most powerful magic you can see is if I can make you do something incredible, that's going to resonate with you so much more.”
It seems it’s not over for X too, with Marc promising “100% we'll see X again”, while teasing a collaboration.
Marc said: “X will continue to perform, he might perform alongside Marc Spelmann. I'm completely open, TV would be wonderful, if there was a TV avenue I've got loads of ideas.”
Lorraine airs weekdays at 8:30am on ITV.
