Kelly Clarkson has fans in tears as she sings cover of Lady A's Need You Now after her divorce from Brandon Blackstock

KELLY Clarkson had fans getting emotional as she sang quite the cover of Lady A's Need You Now following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

The singer and her now ex-husband tied the knot in 2013 and welcomed two kids during their relationship.

During a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the American Idol alum took to the stage, alongside her musical director Jason Halbert, to sing her version of the popular 2009 hit.

Kelly wore a tee-shirt under a dark jacket and matched it with a skirt as she belted out the touching cover.

Fans were all about the performance as they took to the comments section to respond.

One person said: "This is so heartbreaking… gosh I have something in my eyes. totally not crying," while another added, "made me cry. I love her voice and all the range she has for all genres."

A third fan commented: "I'm not crying, you're crying," as another chimed in with, "By the end of this cover I just want to go and give her a hug."

The entertainer might just need a hug as she is currently dealing with the aftermath of her split from her ex.

The former pair parted ways after the performer filed for a divorce in June due to "irreconcilable differences."

Kelly also asked for joint physical and legal custody of their children.

The duo share daughter Rose, six, and son Remington, four, while Brandon also has two kids, Savannah, 18, and Seth, 13, from a previous relationship.

Last week, during her popular program, Kelly hinted at a reason behind the breakup as she revealed that her mother Jeanne gave her some advice that she's kept in mind amid the downfall of her marriage.

The host said: "My mom has been telling me since I was a kid: You are who you surround yourself with.

"You want to make sure you're surrounded by people that also want to be the best versions of themselves and also want a good common goal for everyone, not just themselves, right?"

She continued: "People, like, could be bad for you in a certain time. And I think that everybody just goes, 'Oh, well that means they're bad.' Well it doesn't necessarily mean that, it just means that you're on different paths. And I think that that's okay.

"Everybody's on a different learning curve."

Aside from her marriage ending, the Grammy winner has also been dealing with a lawsuit.

Brandon's father's company sued her for $1.4m as they claimed she had not yet paid the full commission this year for her work on The Voice and The Kelly Clarkson Show.

On top of all that, the hitmaker also had a Covid scare after four of her staff members were exposed.
