Jasmine, 45, was on hand to help Paul and Clare find their dream property in Portugal during the latest episode of A Place in the Sun as the couple were looking to relocate. With £120,000 to play with, the presenter of the Channel 4 show also had to make sure she found the pair somewhere which had three bedrooms at least, plenty of land and captured the views of the countryside and mountains. However, when the guests became emotional during the viewing for property number three, the host of the programme couldn’t help but shed a tear.
What was on offer for property number three was a home which could be split into two as it was a four-bedroom farmhouse.
With more than enough living space on the ground floor for the couple, Jasmine suggested they could use the upper half of the house to accommodate their guests or rent out.
The pair were blown away with the possibility of owning a home in Portugal as well as an apartment all within one property.
Unfortunately, it was just a little over budget at it was on the market for £129,000 but the presenter explained the agents selling it would be willing to negotiate further.
Paul was pleased that there was a lot less to work on with this property than the other ones they had seen during the search.
A land space of about four acres was also included in the deal, with the outside space containing a vineyard and multiple fruit trees.
When they walked inside, the couple couldn’t believe what they were seeing as they said it was “too good to be true”.
The open plan kitchen and diner area was a success and Jasmine led the pair into one of the bedrooms to see what they thought of where they could be sleeping.
“What are you two thinking?” the presenter asked, with Paul replying: “There’s got to be a catch or an earthquake.
“It’s just too good to be true,” he said as he and Clare were seen getting emotional over the third property of the search.
Brought a tear to my eye
“Opportunities like this don’t happen to us,” he explained to the presenter as he realised he was getting emotional.
Trying to make light of the matter, Paul added as he laughed: “That’s all the emotion you’re going to get out of me.”
Wiping away the tears, Jasmine told the guest: “You’re bringing a tear to my eye, Paul.”
Clare’s husband weighed back in: “Genuinely, it feels like a place we never thought we’d be able to get,” with Jasmine stating there was so much more to see.
By the end of the viewing, Paul and Clare said it was the contender of the day and ruled out the others as potential properties they could buy.
Towards the end of the episode, the couple explained to the presenter property number three was still their favourite.
However, although they wanted to put an offer in on the home, they explained to Jasmine they were going to come back to Portugal in three weeks time.
This was because they wanted a survey done on the establishment to rule out any structural work which needed to be done.
Jasmine did her best to persuade the couple to still put an offer down on the table to ensure they didn’t lose out.
Unfortunately, Paul told the presenter he wouldn’t have felt comfortable putting down such a big sum of money if it was going to fall through.
They explained if they did lose out, there was always the potential to buy property five, which was on the market for £134,000.
It was very different to the home the pair had established in their heads but they were blown away by how ready it was to move in.
Not a lot of work would’ve needed to be done on it and the location was perfect for where the pair wanted to live in Portugal.
Jasmine told them she was trying to strike a deal as she really didn’t want the couple to walk away empty-handed.
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
