Janette Manrara presented Morning Live with Gethin Jones on Monday as the pair discussed the Strictly Come Dancing star’s new role on the BBC show. The Ballroom and Latin dancer stepped down from her position as a professional to co-host Strictly spin-off It Takes Two. However, as Janette teased another new role, she addressed the difficulties of being kept apart from her husband Aljaž Škordjanec.

The Ballroom and Latin dancer began: “Strictly fitness is back with a bang.

“I’m taking charge of it for this new term and I’ve got some big plans for you all.

“I’m going to be looking at new ways to work fitness into your life and I’ve also got my wellbeing diploma now so I’ll be working with one of the leading fitness experts to turbocharge our Strictly workouts.”

“I’m looking forward to this it’s going to be a bit different this time,” Gethin commented.

“Yes slightly different we’re going to add a bit more dancing,” she explained.

“More dancing?” Gethin questioned. “I supposed that’s timed very well with your new role on Strictly and I don’t mean It Takes Two presenting you’re also doing some choreography too, aren’t you?”

“I am,” Janette replied as Gethin added: “You’ll be bossing the pros around.”

“As you know the pros are all in a hotel bubble for the moment to do the pro dances and I’ve been asked to come in and help choreograph some of the pro dances this series,” she noted.

“It’s been really nice because I’m back in with the pros but also very hard to be two metres away from Aljaž.”

“Two metres from your husband,” Gethin quipped. “That’s so bizarre.”

“I think some parts of him like it,” Janette joked.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview, Janette recalled leaving her husband in tears after landing the It Takes Two role.

After Zoe Ball announced her departure, the BBC confirmed Janette would be taking over and host the show alongside Rylan Clark-Neal.

She explained she was out for dinner with friends when she heard the news.

“I was in a fancy bar on my own, so I couldn’t scream out loud – I screamed silently!” she noted.

“Then I couldn’t say anything as it was supposed to be a secret.”
