I'm A Celebrity stars told they 'will be going to Australia' as bosses plan to return Down Under

I’M A Celebrity bosses are desperate to get the show back to its home in Australia and are hopeful they can work around the current travel ban.

Insiders on the hit ITV series said celebs in talks for the show were being told to prepare for Australia but conceded that a final decision on the location would not be made for some time.

The show’s traditional set on the Gold Coast is ready and waiting for the production team, along with Gwrych Castle in North Wales – where the show was filmed last year.

An insider said: “Getting I’m A Celebrity back to its natural home is what everyone wants of course and the best case scenario is that the show is back in Australia this year.

“Those being lined up for the show are being told that Australia is on the cards.

“However those working on the show know that the decision on the location won’t be made for some time.

“With the changing nature of Covid-19 and the restrictions nothing can be said for certain.

“ITV secured Gwrych Castle for another year if it is needed and of course, the show was just as successful in Wales.

“But ultimately everyone has their fingers crossed that the bags will be packed for a long haul trip later this year.”

The Sun revealed earlier this year how ITV had locked in Gwrych Castle in North Wales should they need it.

The last series, hosted as usual by Ant McPartlin, and Declan Donnelly, both 45, saw 10.2million tune in to see Giovanna Fletcher, 35, be crowned castle queen.

The Sun also reported how show bosses were considering alternating between the castle and Australia.
