Good Girls has generated a huge fanbase since it started airing on NBC and Netflix, and the series follows three mothers who attempt to earn extra cash through money laundering. Christina Hendricks stars as Beth Boland, who is considered to be the leader of the group. Retta plays Ruby Hill and Mae Whitman plays Annie Marks. Actress June Squibb also took on a role in the series and Express.co.uk has everything you need to know about who she played.
Who did June Squibb play in Good Girls?
June Squibb is a veteran actress who has starred on TV screens since the early 80s, and she is now 90-years-old.
The American actress is known for her roles in the film Nebraska, for which she was nominated for two awards, as well as her role in the Disney Plus film Godmothered.
One of her first TV appearances was in the CBS Schoolbreak Special, and she went on to star in episodes of Two and a Half Men, Ghost Whisperer and The Young and the Restless.
Even at 90-years-old, the actress is still going strong, and her most recent roles include Mrs Finch in Little Voice earlier this year, as well as an episode of Solar Opposites.
She has Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominations under her belt, and Good Girls fans would have noticed she joined the cast in 2018.
June Squibb played the role of Marion Peterson in the series, and she starred in seven episodes between 2018 and 2019.
Marion was Boomer’s (David Hornsby) grandmother and she formed a strong relationship with Annie in the series. The mothers had come up with a plan to steal money from Marion’s home, but Annie felt guilty and returned the stolen goods.
The pair ended up forming a close bond, but things came to a head when Annie found out Marion had been hiding Boomer in her house.
Boomer had become one of the mothers’ biggest enemies after he tried to force Annie to have sex with him.
Marion appeared in the first two seasons but her character died from natural causes, so she did not appear in season three.
She too had become an enemy as she failed to tell Annie, Beth and Ruby that Boomer was still alive, and was hiding out with her.
Boomer had recognised Annie as one of the people who had tried to rob his shop, and Beth ended up kidnapping him.
He was able to escape and tried to get his revenge on the mothers, but they understood he had been killed by his reluctant fiancee.
The women later found out he had survived the attack and had been staying with his grandmother the whole time.
Fans had mixed opinions about Marion in the series, with slinque saying on Reddit: “Oh my god. So I’m on the third episode of season two, and damn.
“I feel so bad for her. I get why Annie was so upset listening to the voicemails. Marion is such a sweet old woman and I hate to think she’s going to be alone forever now.”

PeppermintPhatty added: “I freaking LOVE June Squibb. The cutest.” However others disliked her character after they found out she was hiding Boomer.
Wintersfantasy said: “I must be heartless because I don’t care for Marion. And after what happens. Just wait until you find out. Marion isn’t all innocent.”
In one of the episodes in season two, Marion tries to convince Boomer to come clean and confess his actions to the police.
She reveals how she had made up a story for him when he smashed in his teacher’s car windows at school, in order to protect him.
She tells Boomer she “can’t keep making up stories” and manages to persuade him to enter the police station.
One fan said on Reddit: “I think the show is very consistent in portraying Boomer as a villain. I believe someone pointed out in another post that there’s a moment in season one where Boomer finds out Marion keeps all of her money in the house, which was probably around six months ago in the show’s timeline and thus, when he started stealing from her.”
While some fans considered Marion, or Nana, to be innocent, others continued to express their negative thoughts on her character.
Kwortzz said: “Am I the only one that hates/dislikes Nana? The show and a lot of fans make her out to be such a kind person since she was kind of kind to Annie.
“However, she lied to Annie while she was hiding a rapist in her house and is also racist. Also, I don’t think she seems to like Annie that much, I think she only makes it seem like she does since she’s the one that’s doing all her shopping, bills etc.
“Am I the only way that feels this way or does anyone else not like Nana.”
In the end it was Marion’s love for her grandson that blinded her to the evil things he was doing.
