EastEnders teases Mick Carters explosive exit as Danny Dyer leaves soap

Mick Carter won’t be leaving Walford quietly as Janine Butcher’s scheming continues to cause problems.

Mick, played by Danny Dyer, hoped for a nice Christmas with his family before leaving the square, but it appears the Queen Vic landlord is set for an explosive exit.

In a new EastEnders Christmas teaser released by BBC, newlyweds Janine (played by Charlie Brooks) and Mick look at each other lovingly as she says that they have “a whole new life ahead of us”.

Meanwhile, Mick’s ex Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) can be seen in the background looking less than convinced by their supposedly steadfast romance.

It then cuts to the family sitting around the dining table, with Mick’s mum Shirley (Linda Henry) lashing out at his new wife as she exposes Janine’s actions.

“Of course she did it. Look at it. Look at its face,” she says.

An aggrieved Mick then says: “Look, I just wanted a final Christmas at the Vic with my family. All my family.”

It was announced earlier this year that Danny was leaving the soap after nine years, much to EastEnders’ fans dismay.

His co-stars are also devastated he’s leaving as Kellie admitted there’s been “a lot of tears”.

She told us ahead of his departure: “There were a lot of tears on and off screen from me, but I have spoken to him nearly every day – the reality is, he’s still my friend and still going to be in my life. It’s the end of a chapter.

"I'm not very good at saying goodbye at the best of times and everything about that job has been me and him it did feel like the end."

Echoing similar sentiments, Danny himself told OK!: “I'm really emotional about it, I really thought about it long and hard and it was the right move for me.

"I think I've done over a thousand episodes and I've been there for nearly 10 years, and I've been really grateful for some of the stuff they've let me do.

"So I want to wrap it up in the right way, I'm not allowed to tell you, I wish I could declare it but it's going to be huge and epic and it's going to be around Christmas, so…”

EastEnders airs on Christmas Day at 9:25pm on BBC One.
