EastEnders' Maisie Smith says she had 'no inhibitions' as a child star as fans praise her incredible transformation

MAISIE Smith has admitted she had 'no inhibitions' as a child actress working on EastEnders.

Maisie, 19, has played the role of Tiffany Butcher since the age of six and she's certainly made her mark on the BBC soap.

Appearing on EastEnders: Secrets on the Square on Monday night, the actress spoke about how she's found it growing up on screen.

She first played the role of Tiffany Butcher in EastEnders from 2008 to 2014, and in November 2016 she temporarily returned to EastEnders for a guest stint, before making a full-time return in January 2018.

Speaking to Stacey Dooley about her feisty character, she said: "I had more talent when I was six years old than I do now!

"I had so much confidence, I had no inhibitions – sometimes I have to remind myself of the young Tiffany character because I forgot what a sassy little icon she was!

"They gave me so many good scenes, sometimes kids don’t really get much but we had such a great time," she added.

"Weirdly, I don’t remember everything from growing up, it was just part of my life."

And referring to her sassiness, she said: "I don’t know where that came from, probably from having a ginger mum and a ginger fake one – that’s why I was so fiery!"

Fans watching the show couldn't believe it was the same actress who played a young Tiffany and praised her transformation.

"Honestly how is Maisie Smith from Eastenders so hot," one person tweeted, while another added: "Feels weird that i've basically seen Tiffany (Maisie) grow up on television #EastEnders."

A third person wrote: "Maisie Smith is going places #eastenders," while a fourth said: "@maisie_smith_ is unreal I swear I’m really glad #EastEnders brought her back."

Maisie appeared on Secrets on the Square alongside her onscreen husband Zack Morris, who plays the role of Keegan Baker.

The pair admitted that they're such good mates in real life because they've gone through so much together onscreen, including Tiffany's rape storyline.

But they promised fans that once EastEnders returns, it won't be doom and gloom.

"I think we are quite happy," Maisie revealed, before adding they are in the honeymoon phase after getting hitched.
