Coronation Street star Jane Danson has played Weatherfield resident Leanne Battersby on and off for over two decades.
The 42-year-old actress first joined the cast of the ITV soap back in 1997 before leaving three years later in 2000.
Jane made an explosive return to the cobbles in 2004 and has been a firm fixture on the show ever since.
The Daily Star caught up with Jane at the TRIC Awards to discuss what is going to be coming up in the soap soon and whether there is a bright future for Leanne and Nick.
Jane said: "I don’t know but I just hope that… I was watching the earlier Corries from when I was like 18 and they were like childhood sweethearts and they’ve almost had a real-time relationship over the past 20 years. And we just love working together Ben and me, so I’m hopeful they will carry on investing in it.
Recently, her character Leanne has had a tough time in her personal life with the tragic death of her son and getting dragged into the dealings of a drug gang.
Leanne was determined to protect Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) from Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) and his gang from the moment she discovered the ordeal he had gotten into.
Then after months of terror, hiding and constantly looking over her shoulder, Leanne faced Harvey in some intense court scenes.
Following Nick (Ben Price) and Sam (Jude Riordan) almost getting shot, Leanne confirmed her and Simon would tell the full truth in court, regardless of the risks.
But now Harvey is due to get out of prison, and the leaves Leanne left feeling vulnerable – but will he act upon it?
Jane continued: "This is really difficult but it’s safe to say he’s not going to come out happy, Leanne has definitely got to watch her back.
"Could she die? I mean I hope not cos it would be the end of my job. But anything can happen in the soap world."
In regards to big future lines, Jane also let slip that Super Soap Week is going to cause some carnage and dropped one or two hints.
She added: "A lot is happening in the next couple of months, all I can say is it’s involving a small child.
"There is a big super soap week coming up and it involves a lot of the cast and all I can say is it involves a lot of rain.
"Does it flood? I couldn’t possibly say, but I end up being very wet…"
