Welsh Grand National at Chepstow and Kempton's big Saturday card at threat with morning inspection called at BOTH tracks

CHEPSTOW, Wincanton and Kempton will ALL hold inspections on Saturday morning prior to their TV cards.

The Welsh Grand National is set to be the star of the show if the track is raceable with more freezing weather forecast.

However, the outlook is more rosy after the Welsh course passed a Friday afternoon precautionary inspection.

Chepstow officials report that the course is currently fine and that no snow has fallen.

The situation is also currently positive at Kempton with the ground reported to be good to soft, soft in places.

But with temperatures expected to reach -2 overnight and the threat of snow, the course are taking no chances and will inspect at 8am on Saturday.

Wincanton's card – also set to be shown live on ITV – must also pass an early morning inspection.

Again, the course survived a precautionary check on Friday afternoon but officials are set to meet again at 7.30am on Saturday.

Conditions at the West Country track are currently soft, good to soft in places after the track thawed on Friday.

Wincanton is set to host the rescheduled Grade 2 Dipper Novices' Chase lost at Cheltenham's New Year meeting.
