Bowens Film Room: Week 14 fantasy football upgrades and downgrades

    Former NFL safety Matt Bowen is a veteran of four teams over seven seasons, and now provides analysis for ESPN Insider.

It’s Week 14 in the NFL, and we need to make a push here for the fantasy football playoffs. So let’s use the tape to find the matchups we can exploit, while giving you some options for the WR3 spots, flex roles and more.

There’s a volume receiver in here who will see a bunch of Cover 2 this Sunday. There’s also a PPR target who can be schemed open based on opposing defensive tendencies this week. And there’s a veteran quarterback, one who I think is on the verge of getting back in the QB1 mix.

So, let’s get into it. Here are the players to upgrade, downgrade and monitor based on this week’s fantasy schedule.

Players to upgrade in Week 14

Jarvis Landry, WR, Cleveland Browns

We already have the head-to-head Week 12 tape on the matchup versus the Ravens, in which Landry caught six of 10 targets for 111 yards. So, with Landry getting the Baltimore defense again on Sunday — one that is pretty banged up in the secondary — I like the veteran here in PPR formats.
