This Morning host calls for Amanda Holden to be SACKED from ITV

This Morning host calls for Amanda Holden to be SACKED from ITV amid Phillip Schofield spat as she is branded ‘selfish, controlling and difficult’

  • Sophie Prescott, who has presented 24 segments on the show, said she found the presenter ‘controlling, selfish and difficult’ when they worked together
  • The new claims come as Amanda, 48, revealed Phillip, 57, ‘ignored’ an ‘olive branch’ she offered last year in the hope of putting their bitter feud to bed
  • Confirming the feud rumours, Amanda said on Monday: ‘I did offer to meet him for a coffee months ago, he didn’t reply to my text. What can I say?’
  • Amanda is said to have blamed Phillip for standing in the way of her getting the gig on This Morning when Holly Willoughby, 38, hoted I’m A Celebrity
  • The latest comes as Phillip admitted he has had a ‘sad weekend’ following the ‘hurtful’ reports of the feud with Amanda

A This Morning host has called for Amanda Holden to be sacked from ITV completely amid her spat with Phillip Schofield.

Sophie Prescott, who has presented 24 segments on the show, said she found the Britain’s Got Talent judge ‘controlling, selfish and difficult’ when they worked together in October 2018.

The new claims come as Amanda, 48, revealed Phillip, 57, ‘ignored’ an ‘olive branch’ she offered last year in the hope of putting their bitter feud to bed, while the This Morning host declared he’d had a ‘very sad weekend’ due to the ‘hurtful’ reports.

‘She’s all me, me, me!’ A This Morning host has called for Amanda Holden to be SACKED from ITV amid that Phillip Schofield spat as she brands her ‘selfish, controlling and difficult’

Sophie told the Daily Mirror: ‘Amanda was all “me, me, me”. I put on a brave happy face doing the show but Amanda was very off-putting during my live appearance, kept asking questions, kept interfering and I felt she was a very controlling person.’

Amanda is said to have blamed Phillip for standing in the way of her getting the gig on This Morning when Holly Willoughby, 38, went to Australia to host I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in the absence of Ant McPartlin, 43.

But Sophie is team Schofe all the way and said Amanda should no longer work for the channel at all.

She continued: ‘Amanda is being thoroughly unprofessional in her behaviour to a fellow ITV family member…

‘Who does Amanda think she is, marching into Kevin Lygo’s office demanding answers on what she alleges that is supposed to have happened? Amanda should be “yellow-carded” and told to shut up or face getting the sack from Britain’s Got Talent.’

Sophie Prescott, who has made 24 appearances on the show said: ‘Amanda is being thoroughly unprofessional in her behaviour to a fellow ITV family member’

Frosty: Sophie and Amanda worked together on a Halloween show last year, but Sophie said Amanda should be ‘yellow-carded’ and sacked from ITV for her behaviour

Happier: Things appeared to be much more friendly when Sophie worked with Holly and Phil

The latest comes as Phillip admitted he had a ‘sad weekend’ following the ‘hurtful’ reports of the feud with Amanda.

He posted on Sunday: ‘The end of another really sad weekend. When you try for 35 years to be the easiest, most fun person to work with and you read such hurtful and wildly untrue stories from nameless “sources”.’

‘Obviously I’ll take it on the chin. I just hope you know me better [sic].’

On Monday’s edition of Amanda’s Heart radio show, the former actress, revealed she tried to go for a coffee with the This Morning host, 57, in attempt to bury the hatchet, but he declined her invitation.

Speaking to her co-host Jamie Theakston, Amanda said: ‘I’ve moved on from it, Jamie, you need to move on from it.’

Phillip shared: ‘The end of another really sad weekend. When you try for 35 years to be the easiest, most fun person to work with and you read such hurtful and wildly untrue stories from nameless “sources”‘

He replied: ‘You might have moved on but I just wanted to know, is there any more to the story?’

Confirming the feud rumours, Amanda added: ‘I did offer to meet him for a coffee months ago, he didn’t reply to my text. What can I say?’

Jamie noted: ‘The olive branch had been extended.’

Jamie then paid reference to Katy Perry and Taylor Swift’s highly-publicised feud, which was officially put to bed with the release of Taylor’s new You Need To Calm Down music video.

He joked: ‘In a kind of Katy Perry/ Taylor Swift moment, will there maybe be a burger and fries moment for you guys?’

To which Amanda responded: ‘I doubt it, I’m a vegetarian, Jamie.’

In Sunday’s The Sun, the Britain’s Got Talent judge said she believes the TV favourite sabotaged her chances of filling in on This Morning while Holly hosted I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

‘A sad weekend’: The Phillip/Amanda feud rumours continue to rumble on after she claimed he declined her olive branch when she asked him for a coffee

Eek! Just this month Heart FM radio host Amanda hinted at some animosity between herself and Phillip. When asked the three things she would least like to find in her home, she replied: ‘Spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield’

Reports have long been rife about troubles between the TV hosts, with the latest detail of the story claiming Amanda headed to the top by lobbying ITV executives over the animosity after Phil allegedly pushed for Rochelle Humes to take the job.

A former daytime TV executive told the publication: ‘Phillip actively campaigned for Rochelle Humes, 30, to get the job despite Amanda being more experienced – and having been told privately she’d got the gig.

MailOnline has approached Amanda, Phillip and This Morning representatives for comment. An ITV spokesperson said: ‘Presenter line ups on This Morning change regularly and final decisions on these line ups are made by producers and not the presenters.

‘Phillip Schofield is a much loved broadcaster and part of the ITV family. He is a consummate professional and held in high regard at ITV.’

Didn’t work out: Amanda had apparently wanted to step in for Holly last year when she flew to Australia for the I’m A Celeb gig

Just this month Heart FM radio host Amanda hinted at some animosity between herself and Phillip. When asked the three things she would least like to find in her home, she replied: ‘Spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield’.

It was reported back in November that Amanda had reportedly confronted Phillip after feeling ‘let down’ after she failed to land the This Morning presenting gig while Holly was away.

Instead, former The Saturdays singer Rochelle landed the coveted job alongside Phillip while his regular co-host Holly took over Ant McPartlin’s hosting duties for I’m A Celeb while he took an extended break from TV.

The Sun claimed the alleged confrontation took place during an advert break when the judge was interviewed by Phil and Holly on This Morning in October, days after Rochelle was confirmed to be stepping in.

Amanda appeared on This Morning to talk to the award-winning presenting duo about her work with charity Tommy’s on October 8.

A source told The Sun: ‘She made it clear that she felt very let down. He was lost for words but didn’t have much time to respond to Amanda’s claims because the show was going back on air.

‘Neither of them realised that Amanda could be overheard by most of the team because she was still wearing her mic pack.’

The Sun made further claims that Amanda allegedly found out she didn’t get the job when she was taken out for lunch by ITV executives.

‘Amanda was shocked. During the lunch with ITV executives, they let slip they thought the decision had been heavily influenced by Phil and that he had thrown a spanner in the works.’ The insider shared with the newspaper.

Amanda stepped into Holly’s shoes when the Celebrity Juice star took a year off the show to have her third baby five years ago in October 2014, and has joined the show on other occasions.

In 2015, Phillip confessed he found working alongside Amanda was ‘occasionally quite scary’.

He told Heat magazine at the time: ‘Amanda kept me on my toes. She has a faulty edit button and she forgets she’s on the telly, which is enormously endearing and funny, but occasionally quite scary.’

‘Easier to manage’: A former daytime TV executive told the publication: ‘Phillip actively campaigned for Rochelle Humes to get the job despite Amanda being more experienced (pictured in November 2018)

All hail queen Maura for showing women can be horny and not want sex with you

Forget ‘bev’, ‘it is what it is’ and Anton Danyluk’s terrible track record with woman – Love Island 2019 is all about Maura Higgins thanks to her epic refusal to have sex with Tom Walker.

The late arrival has been TV gold ever since she slow-mo strutted into the villa in a white bodycon dress and told her fellow islanders that Tommy Fury was giving her ‘f***y flutters’. In a rather slow-moving series of the ITV2 hit, the Longford-born model has been a breath of hilarious fresh air, enticing and terrifying the boys in equal measure with her overt sexuality.

There were the aforementioned ‘f***y flutters’. The suggestion that Tom Walker join her in bed on their first date. Almost swallowing an ice lolly whole while maintaining eye contact with Tommy. Pretty much swallowing a carrot whole while dressed as a Playboy bunny.

The woman is sex positivity and horniness personified, and it stacks up to not only genius telly moments, but a refreshing look at female sexuality in a show where chasteness is often rewarded (see Dani Dyer winning last year after staying celibate for the duration).

However, in last night’s episode, my love for Maura stepped up a further 10 notches as she proved in the closing moments of Love Island that a woman loving sex does not guarantee a man sex.

After winning the Gym Bunny challenge, Maura won a night in the hideaway with a boy of her choosing, and after sharing their second kiss earlier that day, the 28-year-old chose Tom and proclaimed she was about to get ‘frisky’.

As Maura readied herself to get closer to Tom, though, she shot down claims from the girls she was definitely going to have sex, as she insisted: ‘I’ve only kissed him three times.’

But outside, Tom reckoned it was a done deal, happily accepting a condom from his mates while boasting: ‘It’ll be interesting to see if she’s all mouth or not.’

Unfortunately for Tom, Maura heard this crass, sexist comment – and even more unfortunately for him, he thought it was funny to repeat it to her, resulting in one of the best takedowns of a male ego we’ve ever seen on national television.

Knowing her worth, Maura said: ‘You did not just say that, did you? Why’d you say that? Did you actually just say that? Wow, ok. You f***ing joking? That’s a d***head comment. F*** off. Go f*** yourself’ – and off she went, presumably to treat herself to a solo night in the hideaway and leaving Tom to regret everything and drown in his own injured pride.

Now, this was sublime television. The combination of Maura walking off with her head held high and Tom crumpling like a crisp packet is Bafta-worthy, and yes I am being entirely serious about that, do not @ me. But more importantly, Maura just gave three million ITV2 viewers – many of them young men and women – a lesson on why being sexually open does not equal ‘easiness’.

Women just cannot catch a break – either they don’t like talking about sex and they’re a prude, or they are open about sex and they’re a slut. Meanwhile, a man can brag about his conquests, bedpost notches and group sex and nobody bats an eyelid. Do you remember that Anton confessed to having group sex with four guys and one girl on holiday? Probably not, but I bet you remember Lucie saying she had sex in a nightclub toilet with her boyfriend.

Maura likes to talk about sex because she’s confident and comfortable in her sexuality. However, she has also revealed that she has only slept with five people in her life. This number could be five or 55, it doesn’t matter – but the fact that she tells people when she’s horny and is rather skilled in deep-throating vegetables and frozen treats doesn’t mean she’s available on a plate for whenever a man wants it.

It’s her decision whether she wants to have sex with somebody, and that doesn’t change whether she’s been talking about her sex drive, has entered a dating show, or is stark naked in the pool. Confidence does not negate consent, and someone refusing to have sex with you does not mean they’re ‘all mouth’.

Love Island has its flaws, but it has the ability to beam important lessons into the living rooms of teenagers who are getting to grips with sex, love and consent. Last year, Adam Collard’s treatment of Rosie Williams saw a new group of teens learning about gaslighting, and this year, queen Maura Higgins is showing that a woman can be entirely sex positive and also not want to have sex with you.

Hackney ‘acid attack’ victim says ‘you should have killed me’ in Snapchat post

An acid attack victim allegedly took to social media to share a selfie saying the yobs that maimed him 'should have killed him.'

In the widely shared photo, the man in his 20s can be seen smiling at the camera.

A caption reads: "You f *  up, you should’ve killed me…. Long.. Snm.”

The term "Snm" is a slang abbreviation for “Say no more”.

There are also emojis of a red cross followed by baseball cap in the photograph.

And social media users have claimed the photograph was published by the victim to promise retribution against his attackers.

On Friday evening two hooded men threw corrosive substance at the passengers of a in the sports saloon car which had been been smashed up.

As they hurl the acid at their victims, the thugs are heard shouting "P***YHOLE! P***YHOLE!"

The man pictured on Snapchat is thought to be one of two men rushed to hospitals following the attack in Hackney, east London.

The victims are believed to be in non-life threatening conditions.

A new video, which also emerged yesterday, shows the victims frantically get out of their car and flail around in agony.

The men are seen stripping off their clothes, writhing and screaming in pain before the video cuts to an end.

Witnesses said that a car chase had taken place just before the attack, with one vehicle being driven off the road into a wall.

Met Police are still investigating and have made no arrests.

A spokesman said: "Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. At the scene two males, aged 20s, were found suffering from substance burns.

"Both injured males were taken to east London hospitals where their condition was assessed as non-life threatening.

Tragic tales of the EastEnders dogs that played Wellard

When you think back to classic 90s EastEnders combos, there were quite a few to pick from.

They all seem to revolve around the Jackson clan as the family were taken into the nation's hearts in the soap's heyday.

There was Bianca and her statement silver puffa-jacket she would always wear as she tried to flog her high-end clobber on the market.

Her sister Sonia, of course, wouldn't go anywhere without her trumpet.

Then there's their goofy brother Robbie, who will forever be associated with his best friend.

Loyal Wellard is an Albert Square legend, but did you know four dogs have played the Belgian Tervuren?

Dean Gaffney has actually outlasted all of them, making another return to E20 in the summer.

Belgian Shepherd Zenna was the original, bouncing onto the scene and into Robbie's heart back in 1994.

Things got a little weird a few years later when she fell pregnant – and apparently producers had no idea she was, in fact, not male.

A stand-in was needed for a few shows before being written out in 1998 when the character was given a rest and Zenna's replacement was found three years later.

Her daughter Chancer was handed the job but didn't last too long – a younger version was on its way.

The fourth Wellard was found in 2001 and this pup was the most used of them all.

Enjoying seven years on the Square, Kyle – again the daughter of her replacement – was to be the last. Kind of.

Even with Robbie not always around, Gus Smith took control of his leash.

But a sad story was about to hit us all.

Bianca let him tuck into a box of chocolates – and that spelled the end for one of soap's favourite dogs.

Stand by for crying kids and talk of a true East End burial – but we did, briefly, get Wellard 2 for a while when Robbie returned.

By then, the dog had had its day.

Ex-Playboy Playmate busted for meth possession

A former Playboy Playmate was arrested for meth possession in Louisiana, according to police.

Valerie Mason — who appeared on five episodes of “The Girls Next Door” — didn’t actually have any drugs on her, but was riding in a car that contained 2 grams of suspected methamphetamine, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office reports.

Cops say she and two others who were riding in the vehicle, which was pulled over Friday night for a broken brake light, denied ownership of the drugs and were all hauled away and charged with felony possession as a result.

Mason was sitting in the front seat and the meth was allegedly found in a container in the passenger door panel. A hypodermic needle cap was also found in the car, according to police.

Mason, 31, is a Louisiana native who appeared in Playboy in September 2008. She was featured on “The Girls Next Door” — which was filmed in the Playboy mansion and shown on E! — later that year. Cops released her Saturday on a $3,000 bond.

Thousands celebrate in Istanbul after opposition wins mayoralty in blow to Turkey's power-mad President Erdogan

THOUSANDS poured onto the streets of Istanbul last night after the opposition candidate for mayor secured a landmark win over power-mad Turkish President Erdogan's party.

Ekrem Imamoglu, 49, said thank you to his supporters after his victory on Sunday – the second time the election took place amid weeks of political tension.

Imamoglu narrowly won an earlier mayoral election on March 31 – but Erdogan's Justice and Development Party, AKP, challenged the vote over alleged irregularities.

He spent 18 days in office before Turkey's electoral board annulled the results after weeks of partial recounts.

Last night, unofficial results showed he won a clear majority of the vote – beating former Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim 54 per cent to 45 per cent.

Imamoglu increased his lead from the March mayoral election by hundreds of thousands of votes – suggesting a voter backlash against Erdogan's efforts to further seize power.

But analysts say the president – who is grappling with an economic downturn and several international crises – could limit the mayor's power or undermine Imamoglu's authority in other ways.

It was feared after the initial result was voided that AKP – which has governed Turkey since 2002 – would never accept any electoral loss.

Imamoglu told jubilant crowds last night: "You have protected the reputation of democracy in Turkey with the whole world watching."

Supporters chanted "Mayor again! Mayor again!" while others hung out of cars, blaring horns and waving red-and-white Turkish flags.

Erdogan will be devastated after campaigning hard for Yildirim in Istanbul – where the president started his political career as mayor in 1994.

AKP also lost control of the capital city of Ankara in Turkey's March local elections.

It came as the country battled high inflation and two credit rating downgrades in the past year.

Istanbul – a city of more than 15 million – draws millions of tourists each year and is Turkey's commercial and cultural hub, accounting for 31 per cent of Turkey's GDP in 2017.

Erdogan has previously signalled an unwillingness to work with an opposition mayor.

But Imamoglu will have to work with his party to govern Istanbul – and he promised to do so on Sunday.

Addressing Erdogan in a speech, Imamoglu said: "I'm ready to work with you" to solve Istanbul's problems.

BBC News viewers distracted from Steph McGovern report as they spot ‘rude’ graphic

Today’s programme was hosted by Jon Kay and Louise Minchin, with Steph on hand to give a business report.

She told the BBC Breakfast presenters how humans’ jobs could be at risk due to the development of robots.

As she delivered the facts and figures to Jon and Louise, there was a graphic of a robot behind her.

The android appeared to have five humanoid fingers, however one of them was sticking out.

Subsequently, it looked as though it was sticking up it’s middle finger in the direction of the presenters, although on closer inspection it seemed to be pointing with the index digit.

Some of those watching at home were tickled by the image and took to Twitter to point it out.

“Robot def giving the bird @BBCBreakfast,”(sic) one wrote on the social media site.

While another questioned: “@BBCBreakfast is that robot giving the middle finger..?”

“@BBCBreakfast was that picture of a robot sticking up its middle finger?” a third asked.

“@BBCBreakfast are talking about the #RiseOfTheRobots and technology taking over… is it just me, or does the #Robot in their graphic look like it’s giving them the finger? #RudeRobot #BadRobot #Robots #ThisIsOurFuture #BBCBreakfast,” a fifth stated.

While another user shared: “A robot giving humans the finger there on #BBCBreakfast @stephbreakfast.”

Meanwhile, last Thursday’s edition of the morning programme saw viewers’ attention drawn to Carol Kirkwood.

The bubbly meteorologist was presenting the weather live from Royal Ascot and she made a staggering four outfit changes

Viewers couldn’t help but talk about her revolving looks and complimented her on the stylish garments.

One fan also had a pressing question to ask Carol about her wardrobe.

Writing on Twitter, the viewer asked: “Serious question… who pays for the outfits? The corporation? Carol Kirkwood? Sponsors? Thanks.”

While Carol was quick to respond: “I do!”
