Celebrity dating conspiracy theories abound in pop culture, but they usually don’t turn out to be true — until now.
Bob Morley, 34, and Eliza Taylor, 29, stars of the CW’s post-apocalyptic drama “The 100,” revealed Friday that they secretly married.
This came as a huge surprise, considering the fact that nobody knew they were even a couple. Some fans had conspiracy theories about it, but pop culture is filled with untrue rumors (see conspiracy theories around “Outlander” actors Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, who are not together, or conspiracy theories around Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss, who are also not together).
But then in a plot twist worthy of a CW show, Morley and Taylor, who are both Australian, announced the news on Twitter.
“Recently I married my best friend and soul mate @WildpipM We are very happy and ask that you keep your comments kind and respect our privacy at this time,” Taylor shared.
Morley tweeted, “It is with such a full heart that I call @MisElizaJane my wife This is something we both cherish very deeply and are beyond happy. Please remember to be respectful and kind to one another. Be well be kind.”
Some fans were so astonished that they assumed their Twitter accounts were hacked — especially since the pair were publicly in other relationships as recently as the fall. “I want to believe that this is true but I feel like I can’t,” one fan wrote in response.
“My initial reaction is like they’re joking, right?” said another.
But when the rest of the show’s cast began congratulating the couple, it confirmed it was indeed real.
Their characters on the show are not a couple, but they are best friends with a long-running “will they or won’t they” dynamic. The sixth season of the show airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on the CW, and it’s already been renewed for a seventh.
