Dipi (Sharon Johal) has so far been completely unaware of Shane’s (Nick Coghlan) awful drug addiction, but the full truth is about to hit in Neighbours, and it’s nothing she could have prepared for.
Dipi is elated that they have finally managed to arrange their 20th anniversary dinner despite setbacks, but she still has no idea Shane is going through the internal torture of withdrawal symptoms. She doesn’t know about his addiction at all. He desperately wants to keep his dark secret to himself, but when Mackenzie picks up on the situation, he’s forced to come clean, dropping his biggest truth bomb ever.
Dipi is horrified by his admission – how could he have kept this from her the whole time? After everything he’s put her through, she now has a big decision – is it time to end their 20 year marriage, or does she stand by her man despite his lies?
Dipi isn’t the only one who is devastated by the shock. Many people close to Shane struggle to come to terms with what he’s been going through. Dipi is of course finding it the hardest and realises she’s no longer sure how she feels about him, and because of this she tells him she’s not sure if they have a future. It terrifies Shane into action as he vows to make himself better.
Yashvi (Olivia Junkeer) is gutted to have to take her own dad in for questioning and Shane, ready to do anything to make things right, gives the police the name of his dealer – River. Yashvi is so embarrassed by the situation she decides to take this case on herself and solve it alone.
Yashvi thinks Dax is corrupt and is shocked to find Levi (Richie Morris) thinks the same. But there’s only one way they can get to the bottom of things, and that’s by bringing Shane’s dealer in.
But while this is going on, Dipi is still fighting to process everything. Her husband felt he couldn’t turn to her for support, and that smarts more than anything. As everything gets on top of her, Dipi is left completely broken. Has Shane caused too much damage this time?
Scenes air from Monday 14th September on Channel 5.
