Soap stars who look dramatically different in real life including Corrie school girl

They're some of the most well recognised faces on TV, but many popular soap stars are unrecognisable away from their on-screen personas.

Stars of ITV's Coronation Street and Emmerdale, such as Millie Gibson and Bradley Johnson, continue to surprise fans when they share snaps on social media looking worlds away from their soap characters.

EastEnders actresses including Lorraine Stanley and Natalie Cassidy have also shocked viewers in the past with their glamorous transformations, especially at red carpet events.

From Hollyoaks' Krupa Pattani to Coronation Street's Elle Mulvaney, here we take a look at some of the soap stars who look dramatically different in real life…

Millie Gibson

Millie Gibson is best known for portraying Kelly Neeson on Coronation Street and is regularly at the centre of the drama on the ITV soap.

The actress, 18, regularly shares glamorous selfies on social media and has continued to take fans by surprise with her dramatically different look away from her role as Kelly.

She's soon set for an explosive exit from the cobbles, with Kelly getting set to wave goodbye to Weatherfield for good.

Harriet Bibby

Harriet Bibby portrays Summer Spellman in ITV's Coronation Street, after taking over the role from actress Matilda Freeman in 2020.

Harriet, 24, has a very different style to her character's in real life, and can be found frequently sharing fun snaps on Instagram of her life away from the soap.

Recently, she revealed that regularly works weekends at a musical theatre club alongside her full-time Corrie role.

Speaking to Inside Soap, she said: “On my weekends I’m a singing teacher. On Saturday mornings I teach kids at a musical theatre club.”

Elle Mulvaney

Elle was just eight years old when she first joined the cast of Coronation Street as Amy Barlow in 2010 and she's remained on the soap ever since.

The 19 year old plays Steve McDonald and Tracey Barlow's daughter, who is two years younger than her real age.

The actress has been nominated for an Inside Soap Award for Best Romance alongside Jack Ryan, who portrays her on-screen love interest Jacob Hay.

Speaking about their on-screen romance, Elle told Inside Soap: "We were worried at the start about how viewers were going to take to Jacob and Amy, because Jacob was a bad lad… so to have everyone take it so well, and then to be nominated for this award, is just amazing."

Bradley Johnson

Bradley Johnson joined Emmerdale as Vinny Dingle in 2019, but away from his soap role he is a talented musician.

A former contestant on BBC's Let It Shine, Bradley, 24, also shows off his musical talents on social media regularly and has surprised fans with how different he looks to his on-screen persona.

Milly Zero

Milly, 23, plays Dot Branning's granddaughter Dotty Cotton in hit BBC soap EastEnders and first appeared in the soap back in 2019.

The brunette beauty's real life is worlds away from her character's troubled life in Albert Square, and she regularly keeps her fans updated with what she's up to.

Recently, former BRIT school student Milly shared some stunning holiday snaps on social media and showed off a number of glamorous looks.

Clair Norris

Clair Norris plays Bernadette Taylor in EastEnders and back in 2020 she stunned soap fans when she shared a glam selfie on social media looking unrecognisable.

The 24 year old actress first appeared in the BBC soap in 2017 and last year she filmed her first Panorama.

Clair can be found enjoying romantic getaways with her boyfriend and fun nights out away her role as Bernie and likes to keep her fans updated on Instagram, where she boasts 121,000 followers.

Lorraine Stanley

Clair's on-screen mum Lorraine Stanley is another Walford resident who looks unrecognisable out of character.

Lorraine, 46, has played mum-of-five Karen Taylor on the soap since 2017, and has become a firm favourite among EastEnders fans.

Karen is known for her signature high bun, but away from the soap Karen couldn't look further from her soap character and can be found wearing stylish outfits with her hair styled in curls.

Natalie Cassidy

Natalie Cassidy first starred in EastEnders in 1993 and is famed for her portrayal of Sonia Fowler, having played the character on and off for a number of years.

The 39 year old actress permanently returned to the soap in 2017, and many fans have watched her grow up on-screen.

Dolly-Rose Campbell

Another soap star who opts for a completely different look to her on-screen character is Coronation Street's Dolly-Rose Campbell, who plays Gemma Winter.

Gemma is known for her loud personality and vibrant clothing choices, but in real life Dolly-Rose, 34, opts for a much more understated look.

Ellie Leach

Back in 2011, Ellie Leach joined the cast of Corrie as schoolgirl Faye Windass and over the years she's found herself at the centre of some very tough storylines.

Ellie, 21, is much more glamorous away from the cobbles and tends to opt for statement outfits and bold make-up, whereas her character can usually be found sporting understated outfits and natural make-up.

Lucy-Jo Hudson

Lucy-Jo Hudson kicked off her soap career on Coronation Street before going on to star in Hollyoaks as prostitute Donna-Marie.

Lucy-Jo, 39, is almost unrecognisable when she's out of character and stunned fans at the British Soap Awards earlier this year as she took to the red carpet in an elegant black satin gown.

Krupa Pattani

Krupa Pattani took on the role of Dr Farrah Maalik in Hollyoaks back in 2017 but left the soap in 2019.

The actress sported cropped hair and a number of tattoos while portraying Farrah, but in real life Krupa has no inkings.

She previously told What To Watch: “I have to have them put on in make-up whenever I wear short sleeves.

“It’s quite exciting having tattoos. I don’t have any in real-life and it’s made me think I might actually get one."
