My partner has a small penis and can't maintain an erection — it's getting to me

DEAR DEIDRE: MY partner sometimes struggles to maintain an erection. It is getting frustrating for us both.

He is self-conscious about his small penis, which I think might be the real issue.

I’ve tried to reassure him that I’m very happy with his body but it doesn’t seem to help.

He has tried Viagra, which helped him get an erection, but he suffered with an awful headache the next morning, so he’s reluctant to take it again.

The doctor sent him for tests to check for underlying health problems and those came back clear.

I’m 54 and he’s 51. We have been together for two years and have a really good relationship apart from this. How can we improve things?

DEIDRE SAYS: Viagra can give some men headaches and must be prescribed in the right strength.

Suggest you see his GP again together.

My support pack on Solving Erection Problems explains self-help sex therapy and another called Manhood Too Small? will help to reassure him.

Change the focus of your sex life. Pleasure doesn’t have to focus on intercourse for either of you.
