Millie Court insists short hair is here to stay after trying lengthy mermaid extensions

Millie Court recently wowed her fans by stepping out with super long, waist-length mermaid waves in a bold move away from her usual look.

But it sounds like the Love Island winner won’t be making long hair a more permanent arrangement any time soon, sticking to her signature blunt cut instead.

“I love my short hair – it’s different, it’s a bit edgier,” she tells OK! . “The best thing about it is that you can switch it up with clip-in extensions for the night, then take them out and you’ve got your [short] hair back.”

The 24 year old, who has just launched her own lash collaboration with Eylure, £12.50 here, says we will see long styles on her in future – but they’ll only be temporary.

“It makes it a bit more fun that I can trial different hairstyles,” she says.

“There definitely will be some more long locks coming soon, new hairstyles for events or whatever, but short hair is here to stay!”

As well as loving her signature shorter length, Millie says that she just can’t handle the maintenance involved with the more permanent extension options.

“I’ve had long extensions before, the micro-bonds, the nano-bonds, those 'full-time' ones,” she tells us. “They are hard to keep up with – the brushing situation, washing your hair – I can’t deal with that, so it’s not for me.”

As for her haircare regime? She says it’s all about keeping her strands as healthy as possible.

“I had brunette hair when I was in secondary school, then I went to the blonde side and I’ve never looked back,” she tells us. “But being blonde you bleach your hair a lot, so my regime is about making sure I use the right products to keep it healthy and not so dry.”

If you want healthy hair like Millie, she tells us she uses Olaplex Bond Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner, £20.80 and £19.50 here, and Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, £29.15 here.

“I always make sure I protect my hair before styling with straighteners or blow-drying and I also deep-condition at least once a week,” she adds. “I’ll put a film on and stick my hair up in a bun with loads of conditioner in.”

Sounds like the perfect afternoon to us!
