McDonald's secret menu lets you get a double spicy quarter pounder for £1 extra

MCDONALD’S fans can double up the new spicy quarter pounder burger for £1 extra through a secret menu hack.

The little-known trick involves adding another beef patty to your order.

It works when ordering through the My McDonald's app or for home delivery via Uber Eats or Just Eat.

When you select a spicy quarter pounder, scroll down and you'll see an option for customisations.

As well as being able to add on an extra patty for £1, you can add extra bacon for 40p.

Customers can only add on one extra patty per order, which means you won't be able to tuck into a triple spicy quarter pounder.

McDonald’s new menu items – what’s available?

THE following items are available now from McDonald’s until November 17:

  • Spicy quarter pounder with cheese – £4.79
  • Quarter pounder deluxe – £4.89
  • McChicken BLT – £5.19
  • Nacho cheese wedges – £1.79

Once you've added your extras, click "add to basket" and pay for your order as normal.

A spicy quarter pounder – which contains a beef patty, two slices of pepper jack cheese, onions, jalapenos, mustard and spicy ketchup – typically costs £4.49.

This means you'll be paying around £5.49 for a double, although prices do vary between restaurants.

The spicy quarter pounder was announced as part of McDonald's new menu on October 7, which also included a McChicken BLT.

The new menu additions are available for six weeks until November 17.

Keep in mind that if you're ordering McDonald's through Uber Eats or Just Eat, you'll pay extra for delivery. Delivery fees usually vary depending on how far away you are from the restaurant.

The My McDonald's app, which is free to download, doesn't offer home delivery – instead, you click and collect your food. Click and collect is free.

This is the first time McDonald's has allowed customers to add extra patties to any of their burgers.

However, they have just released a new triple cheeseburger which contains a whopping three beef patties.

A single spicy quarter pounder typically contains 518 calories – we've asked how many calories a double would pack and we'll update this article.

We've also asked McDonald's if the hack works when ordering at till points in restaurants, or through the self-service screens.

Previous McDonald's hacks include a McMuffin pizza and Angus fries – although these are only available in Australia.
