Jon Gosselin may be under investigation over an alleged incident involving his son, Collin Gosselin.
Collin, 16, accused Jon, 43, of “beating” him in an Instagram post last week, and now People reports that the Berks County Child & Youth Services is conducting an investigation and issued a report stating an unidentified person injured Collin.
While the report, obtained by People, did not list Jon as the alleged attacker, the allegation that the unnamed attacker “caused bodily injury to a child through recent act/failure to act: hitting/punching” is consistent with the teenager’s claims.
The claims came in the form of a now-deleted social media post viewed by the outlet.
“My dad is a liar,” Colin wrote in the since-deleted post. “Yesterday he beat me up and thought nothing of it, he punched me in the face and gave me a swollen nose and I started bleeding. He then continued to kick me in the ribs after I was on the floor. He is a liar.”
A source told the outlet that Collin called the police on his father, but a representative for the Lower Heidelberg Township Police Department declined to provide any information about the incident to Page Six on Thursday.
Collin’s mother, Kate, told People: “You do not punch and kick your children. You do not kick a child. I don’t want to hear any excuses from anyone, not from his father, not from local law enforcement, not from court personnel whose job is supposedly to ensure the best interests of my children.”
“I don’t want my children around him,” Kate, 45, said of her ex-husband. “Enough is enough.”
Jon and Kate divorced in 2009 after 10 years of marriage and a reality show, “Jon & Kate Plus 8” chronicling hitter lives with 19-year-old twins Cara and Madelyn and 16-year-old sextuplets Alexis, Aaden, Joel, Leah, Hannah and Collin.
After the show, Collin attended a program for children with special needs. He eventually moved in with Jon alongside his sister Hannah, while the rest of his siblings live with Kate. The former spouses have accused each other of bad parenting in the past and
Jon admitted that he is not on speaking terms with most of his children in 2018, saying: “It’s what the kids want to do. If they don’t want to talk to me, that’s fine, as long as they keep up their sibling connections.”
For now, it seems that Kate is focused on getting justice for Collin.
“I do not want this buried, swept under the rug or minimized,” she concluded. “As a mother, I am not going to sit quietly and idly by while my child, any of my children, is assaulted by anyone, let alone their own father.”
Reps for Kate and Jon didn’t immediately get back to us. Jon has not spoken out regarding the allegations as of publication.
A representative for the Berks County Child & Youth Services did not return our call.
