Kate Middleton has become a fashion icon for millions since she joined the Royal Family in 2011. The Duchess of Cambridge was seen out and about today in a smart black suit.

In a video filmed at the Natural History Museum, she explained she had had a “quick preview” ahead of announcing the 56th Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

Kate is Patron of the museum and the competition’s first virtual awards ceremony will be held tomorrow night.

In the video, Kate exuded sophistication in a black suit.

The Duchess wore black cigarette trousers, cinched by a black crocodile effect belt which had gold buckle detailing.

The Anderson’s Croc-effect leather belt, which is stocked on high-end fashion websites like Net-A-Porter, retails for a whopping £98.

The Duchess has been spotted sporting this belt on multiple occasions.

Under her black blazer, she styled a boat neck top which she had tucked into her trousers.

Her fitted blazer featured shoulder padding and silk front panels.

She often wears blazers to complete her simple looks with Smythe being her favourite brand.

They retail at around £1,000 each and has been seen wearing them since she married Prince William in 2011.

Kate let her earrings do the talking and kept the rest of her jewellery to a minimum.

The huge black earrings featured gold detailing around the edge with a pearl droplet.

The only other piece of jewellery that the Duchess wore was her huge engagement ring and wedding band.

Like usual, Kate decided to leave her nails natural and unpainted.

She opted for her signature bouncy curls which fell just over her shoulders with the front sections curled away from her face.

Choosing natural makeup, Kate went for a soft smokey eye with lashings of mascara.

The Duchess kept her lip colour simple with a nude pink stain.

In a short preview video Kate explained why she was at the Natural History Museum.

She said: “It is so wonderful to be back at the reopened Natural History Museum, where we can all enjoy its treasures once again.

“I’m here because tomorrow night, I’m announcing the fifty-sixth Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

“I’ve been lucky enough to have a quick preview and I can say it’s truly spectacular.

“I can’t wait for you all to see it.”
