I've spent hundreds on my man's Christmas gifts but I've found out he's not getting me anything – I'm hurt he's selfish

ALTHOUGH Christmas is all about being with your loved ones and spending time together rather than piles of gifts, there's no denying that it can get slightly awkward when you've spent a lot of money on someone's present only to receive nothing in return.

One woman's found herself in this awkward situation – with her boyfriend.

According to her, the two have been dating for almost a year and things were going pretty well until one day they had a discussion about Christmas.

''Well, today I brought up that I couldn't wait for Christmas and I was wondering what my parents were going to get me,'' she wrote on Reddit.

This, she told, irritated the boyfriend who then said he was against the concept of giving gifts to others.

''I was taken aback and asked: "So your not giving me anything?" ''

His response: ''Nah!''

He added that he's never bought anything for anyone, so she shouldn't expect to be different.

''We spoke for a long while about why and such, but it's not important as in the end he still isn't going to give me anything.''

This left her questioning everything: ''I feel as if I'm obviously not too important to him if he hasn't gone out of his way to get me even a tiny gift.

''I made it clear I do like giving and receiving presents, and I told him I'd already bought his, so he said he'd take his then.

''I think it's a little selfish he's going to accept his present without giving me anything,'' she expressed her feelings.

A reader came up with a brilliant plan: ''I'd return his gifts and buy yourself something. If he isn't buying you a gift, you should buy your own.''

Someone else agreed, writing that not giving gifts but happily receiving them is ''cheap as f**k''.

There were also those who believed the boyfriend wasn't in the wrong, with one commenting: ''No. This is petty.
