THERE'S no denying that the Christmas food shop is usually the most expensive supermarket trip of the year.

From the turkey to the vegetables and not forgetting dessert, it doesn't come cheap.

But with the cost-of-living crisis affecting households up and down the country, one savvy mum has shared her handy tips for buying Christmas dinner on a budget.

Hannah, who posts under the acronym @hannahsfamilylife, took to TikTok and posted a video which she captioned: "Christmas dinner for under £20?! How did I do? It was so yummy!"

In the clip, she begins: "Today I decided to put together the cheapest dinner that I could from Aldi.

"I know the cost-of-living crisis is hurting a lot of people but that doesn't mean you cant have a yummy Christmas dinner."

First up, she advises: "Instead of getting a turkey get a chicken – it tastes just as good.

"I got a medium one today for £3.99 which can comfortably feed a family-of-five."

Next, she says: "Get the wonky vegetables instead of normal ones because they taste the same."

She continues: "Although they had some expensive desserts, I found some cheap alternatives like this Yule log £3.99 or the frozen section has some cheaper ones.
