Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, 73, and Prince Charles, 72, visited Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham today to thank volunteers undertaking clinical trials for the Covid-19 vaccine. It’s the first time the couple have undertaken a royal engagement this year and the Duchess opted for a bright colourful coat.

Putting safety first, the royals wore medical blue face masks.

The Duchess stepped out in a vibrant coat with pops of electric blue, black and red.

The tartan number also featured a navy velvet collar and pockets.

She opted to keep the piece fastened, with black buttons down the middle of the coat.

It isn’t the first time Camilla has worn the coat.

She has actually been seen wearing it multiple times before, debuting it in 2015 while touring the Art Workers’ Guild.

A year later she was pictured in it again while attending a mini literature festival in Peterborough Cathedral.

The Duchess most recently wore the jacket back in December during a visit to the Gloucestershire Vaccination Centre.

She paired the knee-length coat with a pair of high black boots, the same she had on today.

Black boots are a staple in Camilla’s wardrobe and she has worn this exact pair several times.

She also added her favourite handbag to the look.

Camilla’s small black bag is by DeMellier London and is known as the Mini Venice style.

It is priced at £250 and is made from calf leather and can be worn cross-body, over the shoulder or carried by its small top handle, which is what Camilla opted for today.

The royal is a huge fan of the bag and also has it in racing green and cream too.

Meghan Markle also has the green version of the bag in her wardrobe.

Charles and Camilla were joined by Health Secretary Matt Hancock at the hospital too.

Fans took to Twitter to express how happy they were to see the couple out and about again.

One person said: “Wonderful to see them!”

Another wrote: “How great to see them out and about! I hope we will see the Cambridges and other working royals having those kinds of engagements again soon.”

“Lovely to see them,” a third commented.

Just like Camilla, Kate Middleton is also a huge fan of tartan print jackets.

She has worn her green and navy designer coat on several occasions.

The Black Watch Tartan coat is from McQ, a diffusion line of one of her favourite brands of all time, Alexander McQueen.

It retails for £1,311 and just like Camilla, has been spotted wearing it several times.

She first wore the coat on St Andrew’s Day in 2012 visiting her old prep school.
