Wayne Rooney has shared a personal story about his past anger, revealing that he once punched holes in every door of a rented home after arguing with his now wife Coleen when he was 18 years old.

The now 35-year-old star said he was on the phone to Coleen when they had a disagreement, with his teammate Rio Ferdinand eventually coming over to find him.

Speaking on the Tony Bellew is Angry podcast, the footballer-turned-manager said: "I was going on a night out with the lads so I phoned Coleen. I think she was in Liverpool at the time, you know when you’re that age, you argue a lot.

"Anyway, she's constantly going on," he continued. "So I'm in this rented house and I've gone round every door in the house and punched a hole in it.

"And then I lost my head again and I completely smashed the door. Then Rio came round."

Wayne and his wife Coleen met when they were just 12 years old, before getting wed ten years later in 2008.

The pair share four children together, 11 year old Kai, eight year old Klay, five year old Kit and three year old Cass.

The couple recently hit headlines after Wayne was photographed in a hotel room with three women in July.

Coleen was said to be “hugely let down” by the pictures and took some time for herself before choosing to “save her marriage”, a source told OK!.

They told us in August: “Coleen has put her foot down and told Wayne it cannot happen again.

“She’s really laid the law down and has warned him he won’t get another chance. But she’s saving her marriage and moving forward.”

Coleen’s dedication to her children and husband was echoed in her choices, as the source continued: “Her family and her boys are so important to her. Wayne has been a great support to Coleen and nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors.

"Coleen is just getting on with things and is sick of people judging her. She’s obviously still hurt and upset, but she’s staying strong. She wants to save her family.”
