Patricia Krentcil, the woman who shot to fame as “Tan Mom,” is fighting for life in a hospital after a battle with pneumonia, as The Blast has reported.
According to the website, her longtime producer Adam Barta and also sources close to Krentcil, 51, say she is currently on life support in a Florida hospital following a serious pneumonia crisis in which she needed to have fluid drained from her lungs.
An insider told The Blast because Tan Mom is a smoker, her lungs were very weak, and doctors were unable to drain all the fluid, and it led to her going into cardiac arrest.
Her doctors reportedly put her into a medically induced coma on Friday night, June 7, and performed an intubation to allow her to breathe.
Krentcil’s husband Richard is reportedly with her during the dire medical crisis.
As Radar reported in 2012, Krentcil was arrested on a second-degree child endangerment charge when authorities alleged she took her then 5-year-old daughter Anna into a stand-up tanning booth, where the child was burned. Krentcil denied the claim. While Krentcil admitted her daughter had accompanied her to salons, she denied Anna was ever on a tanning “bed.”
In 2013, as CBS News reported, a New Jersey grand jury refused to indict Krentcil for the alleged tanning booth incident involving her little girl.
However, Krentcil got headlines around the world from the story. The mother of five children said the case against her was unfair as she recalled, “I went down to the station and they put me in the cage” and she emerged “pale after a week. I still have nightmares. I did nothing wrong.”
In 2017, Krentcil was in the news again after she complained that daughter Anna’s school sent her home with a bad sunburn she had suffered during recess!
“She was totally burned. I packed her [sunscreen] and she came home like a French fry,” Krentcil told the New York Post at the time.
Taking advantage of her 15 minutes of fame, Tan Mom relocated to Florida from New Jersey to work on a music career.
Her song “Free To Be Me” debuted on the Howard Stern Show.
In the song, Krentcil said she wanted to shed her Tan Mom persona and go back to being “Patricia Marie.”
