Queen Elizabeth II Tried to Convince Meghan Markle to Reconcile With Her Father Thomas

AceShowbiz -Queen Elizabeth reportedly encouraged Meghan Markle to mend her fractured relationship with her father, Thomas Markle. Royal expert Katie Nicholl writes in her upcoming book, “The New Royals”, that the late monarch tried to convince the Duchess of Sussex to talk with Thomas.

“The Queen could see how damaging the situation was between Meghan and her father and she did speak to Meghan about it and tried to encourage her to talk to Thomas,” Katie pens in the book.

The author also claims that a royal source told her that the Queen felt “the whole thing was quite badly handled with Thomas Markle.” Queen Elizabeth II allegedly believed “it would have come out better” if it “had been done differently.”

Thomas was supposed to walk Meghan down the aisle at her royal wedding to Prince Harry at St. George’s Chapel back in 2018. Things, however, went south after the former lighting director for TV soaps and sitcoms admitted to staging paparazzi pictures, which featured him getting a suit measured for the wedding and perusing books about the U.K.

He eventually didn’t attend the royal wedding with King Charles III walking his daughter-in-law down the aisle. Kensington Palace said in a statement, “This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding. She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation.”

Thomas, who later underwent a heart surgery, said of the ceremony, “The service was beautiful and it’s history. I will always regret not being able to be there and not being able to hold my daughter’s hand.”

The relationship between Meghan and Thomas further deteriorated after she accused him of leaking a private letter she had penned for him after the wedding. “Please stop exploiting my relationship with my husband … I realize you are so far down this rabbit hole that you feel (or may feel) there’s no way out, but if you take a moment to pause I think you’ll see that being able to live with a clear conscience is more valuable than any payment in the world,” she wrote in the letter.
