Love Island fans have guessed that Michael Griffiths is plotting a reunion with Amber Gill following her split from Greg O'Shea.
The 27 year old was coupled up with Amber, 22, on the hit ITV2 dating show earlier this summer, before dumping her to pursue Joanna Chimonides, 22.
Amber went on to date 24 year old Irish hunk Greg on the show, going on to be voted winners of the series, scooping the £50,000 prize.
But just five weeks after the show ended, it has been reported that Greg has dumped Amber over text — just hours before they were scheduled to make a joint TV appearance.
Michael broke his five day long social media silence hours after news of the split broke, sharing an image of himself laughing while speaking on the phone.
Posting to his 1.3million Instagram, he asked his fans to caption the image, opening the floodgates for jokes about Amber's situation.
One fan suggested Michael was saying: "'Did he really dump you by text????'," as another wrote: "Ambers single! Quick bell her up!!! [sic]"
A third commented: "When you realise ambers single [sic]," while a fourth added: "When you get a call that ambers finally single [sic]"
Fans also speculated that Michael was making a quip about Amber's split as he added a four leaf clover emoji to the post's caption, similar to the four leaf clover necklace Greg's mum gave her when the islanders' parents entered the villa.
The Sun Online claims Greg broke up with Amber on Friday, with a source saying: "Greg has broken up with Amber and is blaming their busy schedules and now they want to focus on their careers.
"Amber feels used by Greg. He was always aware of the distance and his career in their relationship, and yet he chose to seek out Amber in the villa knowing there would always be the distance.
"He hasn't made any effort to come to London to see Amber, despite it being over five weeks, it's always Amber who had to make the effort."
"Amber is devastated," said the insider. "She thought he was a lovely guy, but he's made his feelings clear over text, which isn't very sensitive.
What are the Love Island 2019 stars up to now?
"She had a feeling he was going to make decision to end things but only because she'd been hearing things.
"He hadn't the decency to tell her himself until she confronted the issue. They had a lovely weekend in Dublin planned but he's just pulled the plug and left her wounded.
"Amber loved her time in the villa with Greg it's just not been the same since he left for Ireland."
Geordie beautician Amber is since said to have "pulled out" of an appearance on live Irish television alongside Greg and their former co-star Maura Higgins.
The show has now seemingly confirmed that Amber has cancelled her appearance on the hit show at the last minute, by teasing an appearance from a mystery Love Island star.
Sharing a collage of their guests, Greg appears next to Maura, but there is a blank box next to them, filled with a large black question mark.
They wrote to their thousands of Instagram followers: "Who will be the third Love Islander on tonight’s #LateLate? Find out at 9.35pm."
Love Island 2019 winners: Amber and Greg
Many fans of the show guessed they would be joined by Maura's partner Curtis Pritchard on the popular Irish show, as he announced he had arrived in Dublin on Friday morning.
A representative for RTE, the channel The Late Late Show airs on, told OK! online earlier in the day: "The Love Island slot is in the first part of tonight's show and we won't be commenting further on tonight's line-up at this time."
Greg promoted their joint appearance on the show on Thursday night as he shared a post from the broadcaster to his 1.6million Instagram followers.
RTE shared a video of Greg announcing his appearance on the show on Wednesday, where he said in a video: "So, got some very exciting news.
"This coming Friday I'm going to be joining the amazing Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show! So I cannot wait for it, honest to God!
"I've been a fan of the show all my life, always watched it with my family and my friends and now I'm actually going to be on the show!
"So really, really exciting. You should definitely tune in, it's going to be a bit of craic, you'll see some other special guests there as well! So the fun is definitely guaranteed."
