Lorraine Kelly, 61, was back fronting her chat show this morning on ITV. However, the star felt she then had to take to Twitter to address claims from a viewer that she’d had a haircut

Presenter Lorraine is much-loved for her titular morning show on ITV.

However, part of this means she is often under viewer scrutiny.

During the latest instalment, one fan was left convinced she’d had a hair cut.

Taking to Twitter, they and others pointed out how she had seemingly changed her appearance.

One wrote: “See @reallorraine has had her hair cut, can you send them my way…”

Another added: “Hmmm [sic] thought we couldn’t use hairdressers.

“Same with Susanna [Reid]. It does seem one rule for them and another for us.”

A third person commented: “They’ll say, we’re in a support bubble with our respective hairdressers.”

However, Lorraine was quick to put the rumours to rest via the micro-blogging site.

In response, the presenter tweeted: “I haven’t!

“In fact my fringe is getting really long again and I’m in dire need of a cut and colour – booked in with @MaleekaRobb in April.”

Currently, hairdressers are shut under the national lockdown restrictions in the UK.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has now outlined plans which will see them open again on April 12.

Lorraine is well recognisable for her iconic fringed haircut.

The star has previously opened up about how important the look is to her and how it took her a long time to find the right one for her.

Speaking to The Telegraph in 2015, she said: “One of the great things about being the age I am is that I’ve finally found the hairstyle that suits me.

“My mistakes are documented – well documented – on television.

“I remember once going to the hairdressers back in the 80s and I stupidly said: ‘Just do whatever you think, I want a complete change.’

“She gave me a really short fringe and it was all shaved at the back – I cried all the way home!”

The presenter also told the publication about how as she’s got older, looking after her hair has become more important than ever.

She added: “Hair is really important as you get older. It makes a real difference to how you look and feel.

“The main thing is making sure it’s in good condition.

“As you age, the colour and texture changes, so you need to think about that. But it’s about wee subtle changes, not giant ones.”

Lorraine airs on weekdays on ITV from 9am.
