Eagle-eyed Loki fans may well have noticed that there are some scenes in the trailers that were released but were missing in the series itself.
Often there are small snippets of filming that don’t quite make the cut, and while essentially that’s what happened here, there is an explanation for it.
The Marvel Disney+ show shot some scenes that don’t appear in the final series that are part of the “memory scenes in Asgard” that Loki watched on the highlight reel of his life during the first episode.
Series director Kate Herron said that it didn’t quite fit the tone of the scene so they had to be cut.
“They tended to lean a bit more into comedy, and the scenes weren’t bad,” Herron told TVLine. “But when we were putting the edit together, they were quite near where [Loki] sees Frigga [dying].
“Obviously, we didn’t want to take away from that moment, because it’s his mum dying and it’s very emotional. It’s always tricky. The scenes weren’t necessarily not good, but they weren’t quite sitting right. That’s why there’s sometimes bits that people see that don’t end up in the show.”
